Top Pick, 5 Stars from The Romance Reviews (TRR) -
"This story truly exceeded my expectations. Revenge is action packed, and when the pace picks up, it does not slow down.... Pick up this book today; it will grab your attention from the beginning. I cannot wait to read the next book."

"Here is to a WHOOPING 5 Stars. If I had to describe this book in about 4 words it would be action-packed, sexy, romantic, and adrenaline rushing.... This would make a kick butt movie! There were times when I was fanning myself, sitting on the edge of my seat, and so mad I had to put it down. The steamy scenes were oh so delicious!"

A woman on the run. A damaged Mafia don. A rival bent on revenge...

Kate Andretti is married to the Mob--but doesn't know it. When her husband uproots them to Italy, Kate leaves everything she knows behind. Alone in a foreign land, she finds herself locked in a battle for her life against a husband and a family who will "silence" her if she will not do as they wish. When her husband tries to kill her, she accepts the protection offered by a wealthy businessman with Mafia ties. He's not a mobster, he claims. Or is he?

Enrico Lucchesi never wanted to be a Mafia don, and now he's caught in the middle of a blood feud with the Andretti family. His decision to help Kate brings the feud between the families to a boil. When Enrico is betrayed by someone in his own family, the two of them must sort out enemies from friends--and rely on each other or die alone. The only problem? Enrico cannot reveal his identity to Kate, or she'll bolt from his protection, and he'll be duty-bound to kill her to safeguard his family's secret.

Attacks from without and within push them both to the breaking point, and soon Enrico is forced to choose between protecting the only world he knows and saving the woman he loves.

Enrico raised a hand in greeting to Kate, and she returned his wave and started descending the steps. She headed straight for him, her auburn hair gleaming in the sun, a few strands of it blowing across her pale cheek and into her green eyes. With a delicate hand, she brushed the hair out of her face. Enrico's fingers twitched with the desire to touch her cheek like that, to feel the slide of her silky hair. A small, almost secretive smile crossed her features, and he swallowed hard. Dio mio. He felt that smile down to his toes.

She stopped a couple feet from him. "Signor Lucchesi, it's good to see you, as always."

He bowed his head slightly. "And you, Signora Andretti." He paused, a grin spreading across his face. "Since when did we get so formal, Kate?"

She half-turned and motioned to the doorway behind her. And that was when he noticed it--a bruise on her right cheek. Merda! Had someone hit her? Tearing his eyes off the mark, he followed her gesture. A tall, sandy-haired man, well-muscled and handsome, leaned in the doorway, his arms crossed. "My husband, Vincenzo, is here."

Enrico's smile receded. He looked back to Kate. "I'd like to meet him." And if he did this to her, he's going to pay.

This is the first time I've read a book from Dana Delamar, so I wasn't sure what exactly I was getting myself into. Even before I started reading there was a page with translations from Italian to English, which I found good (I couldn't remember half of the meanings from High School) & I found it got my mind set on the conversations to come. I must say that I was impressed with the detailed descriptions of the country side, houses, people & food through out the book, it made me feel like I was walking around Italy with the characters. The detail of the Mafiso codes & there involvement with the people & other Mafiso fanctions was visually fantastic. Some of the scenes where a bit tense & as a female I found them disturbing, but the scenes contributed to the storyline.

There are so many twists & turns in this compelling novel. Dana weaves us such a magical story full of love, lies, deception, passion, emotions, action.... Bring on the rest of the series & any others you've got published, reader for LIFE!

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC MOB Read!!! 28 February 2012

I gave this 5 stars, since I could not give it 4 1/2; it's a book I know I'll read again.

I'm not usually the kind of person who will seek out a book that talks about the Mafia - I'm not typically a fan of 'stuff in boxes', etc, however, in this case, I'm very glad I took a chance and read it. The amount of research that Dana did was impressive and showed. The way she captured the language, the way that the Mafiso works in that area, the 'code' that some of the more 'respectable' Mafiso stick too and the visuals of the area are fantastic.

Quick breakdown of the novel ~

Kate, a fair skinned American beauty, is living in Italy; she married Vince Andretti after a whirlwind courtship and not knowing that much about his 'family', Kate is drawn into a world that she only heard about from the news and in hushed tones. Kate's gut has told her something is 'amiss' about her husband, little does she know that he is part of the ruthless Andretti family.

Enter Enrico Lucchesi, a handsome, widowed businessman who also happens to be the capo of the Lucchesi family; he is also Kate's boss at the orphanage where Vince has reluctently let Kate work.

Enter the twists and turns of this compelling novel.

Dana weaves such a wonderful story of love, passion, trechery, 'old code' and lies that I stayed up til after midnight reading. The novel got a slow start, then once it got going you were drawn into this 'world' where people live by a different set of rules. A world where men have closed door meetings, where you might receive something in a box that belonged to someone you and love as a 'message'.

You watch the main characters grow, they fight, the love, they lie and they feel; they are well rounded and you can actually picture running into them in Italy and seeing the events unfold. The end of the book left me wanting to read the next novel. (Which is set to come out in April of 2012)

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding! Mystery, Romance & More! 18 October 2016

There is plenty of description what this book is about from the author's blurb. I didn't read other reviews before choosing this book, but I imagine there is more detail in other reviews too. I loved this book and made the mistake of starting it at bedtime. A little reading before going to sleep. Don't do it!! Learn from my error. Putting this story aside was hard as I was hooked with the first chapter! This isn't like any other mafia romance I've read in the past.
I've visited Florence, Italy, and the descriptions in this book brought back amazing memories of the charismatic Italian people, gorgeous vistas, gardens, history, art and more. The mafia, nope. That's all part of this book, but it reads like you're one of the Families and relevant to know the inside secrets, in detail. The old codes, bloodlines first, no drugs & prostitution, money laundering is a legit way of living as is protection. People protecting their businesses by paying the Mafia to watch over them, keep them out of harm from dangerous enemies. Add in romance, betrayal, mystery and this is a clear winner! 100% recommend and looking forward to reading the next 4-5 books in this series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Had Potential But Fail!!! 21 August 2015

The story explained the teeming struggle for revenge, betrayal and control between the two mafia familiari. This story begins after so many years of marriage to Antonella and her passing Enrico is facing retaliation from her father Carlos(another Mafia capo). Kate is an American woman whom is married to Vincenzo(Carlos nephew) unknowingly that he was a mobster. After awhile Vincenzo attitude changed and he become abusive verbally as well as physically. In the beginnings, Kate was a strong-willed, smart and stubborn woman. She was shock and in pain she tries to think of ways to get out of the marriage and away from him(Vincenzo). Enrico noticed the bruise on her and tries to assist her in her ordeal; however, she was reluctant until Vincenzo appeared at her office in another one of his abusive action. The storyline was headed in the right direction but somehow detoured because Kate was under Enrico's protection, and the same day after Vincenzo's attack, she is having sex with Enrico??REALLY !!! Kate acted childish and a little paranoid with her whimpering, whining, indecisive actions that led to her safety. I love how everyone came together and how this wasn't just an easy love story but Enrico was too emotional and weak. I love it when the H is a true alpha-male more assertive and strong in a Mafia book. I really really wanted to LOVE this book...but some of the repetitious love scene( LUKEWARM) reminiscent about the past became boring after awhile.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Taut Thrilling Romance of Moral Ambiguity 28 February 2016
By Kerry L. Reis - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
FOR 18+ READERS ONLY – Enrico Lucchesi is a Mafia don, head of the Lucchesi family in Italy, who is still mourning the death of his wife from a year ago. His wife was the daughter of a rival Mafia don, Carlo Andretti, whose mission of ambition and vengeance toward the Lucchesi family had been held back by this brokered marriage between his daughter and Enrico. Kate Andretti is a young woman from America who was swept off her feet by a handsome Italian gent, Vincenzo Andretti, nephew to Carlo, and recently married him, allowing him to bring her to Italy. However, Kate has now realized that Vincenzo is a domineering, abusive man with criminal Mafia ties and is seeking to escape the marriage by reaching out to her wealthy boss at the orphanage where she is working, only her boss is Enrico. Yet, the chemistry between Enrico and Kate is immediate, even though Kate is unaware that Enrico is also tied into the Mafia world, a world that has Enrico conflicted between his new honest feelings toward Kate and the rules of family honor and loyalty within the Mafia culture, especially when he discovers betrayal within his own family, as Carlo now feels free to resume his mission to avenge and achieve ultimate power. The war of vengeance, honor and power has begun. For the most part, this is a strongly written complex tale of the bonds of romance grappling against the moral ambiguity of a Mafia culture that constantly uses family honor to justify murder and the advancement of power. The thrills are intense and the suspense is strong, as the main characters struggle to determine who they can trust. However, although many readers may enjoy the heavily described erotic moments, I felt they occasionally dragged the story down as well as some of the moments of over-thinking by the main characters. Yet, the story mostly held me to the edge of my seat as I wondered if true tragedy would be avoided amongst all of the blood spilled.

Revenge (Blood & Honor #1)
By: Dana Delamar
5/5 stars

This is the first book in the Blood & Honor series by Dana Delamar. However, I recommend starting with Malavita, the prequel to this series. This book takes place 25 years after the prequel. The prequel shows us how and why Enrico became the man he is today. The prequel also shows how Enrico Lucchesi and Antonella Andretti first fell in love despite the arranged marriage that was part of peace truce between the two families.

Enrico Lucchesi never wanted the mafia life. But his future changed when his brothers and their mother were murdered. In order to gain a peaceful truce, Enrico had to marry the Antonella Andretti, the daughter of his enemy, Carlo Andretti. Eventually they found love, and had a long marriage, only ending with Toni’s death. Enrico has been in mourning for the last year and has not made all the best decisions for the Lucchesi family cosca. But even as he has been healing, he has noticed a woman who works for his “Lucchesi Home for Children.” But that presents its own set of problems. Kate is not only a married woman, but is married to Vincenzo Andretti, Carlo’s nephew from the U.S.

Kate Andretti moved to Italy with her husband, believing that he was taking a promotion within his family’s in-port/export business. She has no idea that her husband or his family is part of the mafia. She starts to notice things that don’t add up, along with her husband’s personality and mood changes. When he becomes violent she leaves him & seeks protection from her boss, Enrico Lucchesi, who she believes is just a businessman and he not only encourages the ruse, but actively tries to prevent her from finding out his true identity.

Enrico himself is under siege by the Andretti family cosca and so are the businesses under his protection. But what is the most devastating about the entire trouble, is that there is a traitor amongst his family. Someone from his family is feeding Carlo information, information that will enable Carlo to kill him, Kate and destroy everything that he’s worked for. Some members of his family believe that he needs to give up Kate in order to secure peace with the Andretti’s and for the benefit of his cosca, which is supposed to be his number one concern.

If Kate finds out Rico’s true identity and refuses to stay with him, then he is bound by the rules of the ‘Ndrangheta to silence her forever, but doing so will rip out what’s left of his heart. But he can’t give her up as part of a truce either, even at the cost of his cosca.

This is a series that I loved & have reread, and am just now writing a review. This series is well-researched, thought out, planned and executed in such a manner that it stays with you long after and is one you’ll reread.
