If I had to choose one word to describe this book it would be - ok.
Ok, seems to pretty much cover all bases when it comes to this one - ok characters, ok writing, ok story, etc.
For some reason I did not find this book anywhere near as fulfilling as Stokers other books, it started off really strong and I was thoroughly enjoying the dramatic beginnings but it plateaued almost immediately. From about 40% on I was genuinely getting bored and hoping something would actually happen. When that event did happen (late in the book) it was really quick and kind of a let down.
I did like that "drama" was more real life and not just made up for dramas sake but it still just didn't do it for me. I honestly found myself feeling more curious about Montessa and her partner.
I am usually a lover of Stokers slightly predictable yet always enjoyable books but this one just did not rate as highly with me.
Rescuing Harley is still a sweet easy insta-love read but not anywhere as addictive as Stokers other offerings. Fingers crossed Hollywood can bring this series back in the next book.
