Product Description

Carley Downs, medical doctor with the Peace Corps and first daughter to the United States, has been mistakenly abducted by the Guatemalan drug cartel. Without knowing Carley’s true identity, the cartel believes someone in her medical team is in possession of sensitive information involving cartel activities.

President Harlan Downs must decide on an expedient, low profile rescue operation before his daughter’s captors discover Carley’s true identity and force the United States into impossible negotiations for her release.

Matthew and Chase McWain, highly decorated former U.S. Marine Corps aviators, are struggling to make a success of their flying service in the short time they have been out of the Corps. The president has been made aware of Matthew’s special skills flying for Force Recon and has requested him to lead the rescue op. Matt and his team discover that the cartel has established an alliance with an Iranian terrorist organization. Time is quickly running out for Matt to snatch Carley from the cartel’s grasp before they deliver her into the hands of terrorists who will surely recognize the first daughter.

Outmanned and outgunned, the rescue team find themselves locked into life or death struggles, first with the cartel, and later with the notoriously savage Iranian terrorist leader, Ahmad Hassam, as all three fight for the possession of Carley Downs.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books by a first time author I've ever read. 2 October 2013
By Ben Jefferson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I'm a female who enjoys reading Clive Cussler, Vince Flynn, Ted Bell and Brad Thor. I often download books by new, self-published authors on Kindle looking for real undiscovered talent. Some of the free and low cost books are pretty lousy. This is not one of the them. I'll actually look for and buy his future books for my Kindle.

Yes, there are some editorial corrections that need to be made but they didn't distract from the fast paced, suspense filled writing. The story kept me so interested I couldn't wait to get to the next page to see what happened.

I applaud authors like Mr. Sparks who put their heart and soul into writing, then e-publish their work to fulfill long time dreams of writing a novel, and open themselves to honest (and sometimes tactless) critique that can be humbling, horrifying, exhilarating and frustrating in equal measures.

I thoroughly enjoyed Rescue Flight. I'm glad to have found this book and look forward to more from him. I looked for this author on Facebook or somewhere so I could sign up for updates about his future work but didn't have any luck finding anything. I hope there's somewhere to be able to keep in touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action-packed thriller! 28 September 2013

God, country, honor. If you don't believe in these, you probably won't enjoy this book. But if you do believe, then you have just found a dandy of a book. Non-stop action tale about the rescue of the President's daughter and her fellow Peace Corps mates from the hands of kidnapper terrorists in the jungles of Guatemala. Follow the McWain cousins along with their Gov't accomplices as they make their way through back country roads with unknown enemies potentially awaiting around every corner. Never a dull moment, no story-stalling 'relationship' sidebars, just the constant nail-biting action of our unlikely team of heroes. Can't wait to read the sequel, Operation Firestorm!

5.0 out of 5 stars Off the chart 17 March 2014
By John Armstrong - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I love action books and regularly read Thor, Baldacci, Clancy, Grisham, Flynn, etc. This book was right there with them and better in many ways. It started a little slow but the plot and action were paced very well and did an incredible job building, so much so you won't put it down(just ask my wife...) Most action books always make mike little mistakes here and there and being a gun guy, I'm critical in that regard, but the details were nailed down, used ideas and enhancements to the story that were very original, and gave the story a very realistic feel, keeping the players human. While many books in this genre don't have a lot of hope, Carl Sparks did an awesome job keeping it quality, clean, and honoring. Ended up reading the whole book in two sitting, it was off the chart and am impatiently waiting for the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read! 13 December 2014
By GinnyReader - Published on Amazon.com

I love books like this one. But, it's caused me to have late nights reading in bed! Americans are kidnapped while on a mercy mission and two retired military types are hired to get them out. I won't say more than that because I don't like to give away plots.

Matt and Chase are hard core ex-Marines. I have no idea if the things they do are plausible, or if the terminology is accurate in the descriptions of the aircraft, how they maneuver the aircraft, or how they handle the weapons. No matter. The action is there. It's very fast paced and when you finish it's difficult to believe that it all happened so fast.

3.0 out of 5 stars Matt, the hero 25 February 2016
By Sheila L. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
It took me a while to finish this book; I just couldn't stay interested in it. Maybe it was too much description of the area, or how the airplanes worked, etc. I felt it was slow moving. Toward the end it was more interesting. I felt sorry for Chase; he didn't have much of a part in the story and Matt was a hero. There's a lot of violence, in case you don't like that.
