I really enjoyed getting Tikaya's point of view again and love that she and Rias are just as sparky as they were when we left them 20years ago.
Honestly, I could keep reading about Sicarius, Amaranthe and the crew forever! The storylines and characters are simply brilliant.
The huge bonus is that every other series I have read by Lindsay Buroker so far have also been extremely well written & hard to put down (tooo many sleepless nights lately but so worth it!); funny; cheeky and just downright entertaining! Thankfully I still have book 9 to read and the R&R series, oh and the latest Dragon Blood instalment so I have plenty to keep me occupied. I don't know what I'll do once I've read everything.....probably hang on every word Lindsay releases on FB & Twitter in hopes of the next book release date hehe!
Keep up the brilliant work Lindsay!! You are easily my favourite author!
Well done Lindsay.

Steam punk, magical (sorry, science) and alien elements. Believable and
diverse protagonists from different backgrounds and with different skills. Fast paced, imaginative story line in each book, build around a mixed group of outlaws (deadly assassin, female ex-enforcer, thief with magical abilities, researcher, gentle mute ring fighter and a full-of-himself dandy with questionable dress taste) trying to clear their names through honorable actions, which not alway go according to plan, but no worries, Amaranthe will talk her way out of it...
As with all of Lindsay’s books, her superb descriptive writing makes the created world, characters and stories very vivid and enjoyable.
Each of her books gives insights into the well created characters, their motives for actions and their developing relationships.
You will even come to understand and feel sorry for the trained from birth, deadly, monosyllable assassin Sicarius.
Books from different spin-off series link into the same world you will come to love, adding more (historical, ethnical and character) background and visuality overall.
In short, you want to read them all in order and you will want more!
This is an epic in the gentlest steampunkest tradition. A cleverly crafted story that gave good airtime to multiple characters and never left me feeling that they were fillers or the situations overly engineered plot devices. I think a lot of authors find it challenging to develop more than a couple of the characters in their book or to imbue them with and strength of character, but this book has a well developed lead cast of seven (Rias, Tikaya, Amaranthe, Sicarius, Sespian, Mahliki and Maldynado) plus the new character of Dak and appearances by several other regulars as well as the prescriptive Big Bads.
Writing is crisp and full of Burokers signature humour. If you've not read her before, go back and get the series before reading this. It's not essential but it will make everything more familiar and add to the enjoyment.
Thank you, Ms Buroker, for sharing your world. If you're so inclined to write them, it would be lovely to read more of these stories and these engaging characters 😀
