Product Description

When you fall in love with the most unexpected person, at the most unexpected time……

Ryan “Renegade” Kepler

I’m the type of man who knows what I want. I make up my mind and stay in my lane, never veering off the course I set for myself.

Going into the military? Did it. Youngest member of the Moonshine Task Force? That’s me. Get my best friend’s older sister in bed? It was my pleasure.

Age means nothing to me. I’ve seen and done things men twice my age never will. What I want more than anything is someone to share my life with and that person is my best friend's older sister, Whitney.

Whitney Trumbolt

Ryan is ten years my junior, but damn, being a cougar never felt as good as it did the night we spent together. Now I’m struggling with wanting things to either go back to the way they were or spend every night in his arms.

Make my wedding planning company the best in the south? Did it. Ignore the way my body trembles when I see Ryan? Epic fail. Freak out when I see a positive pregnancy test staring back at me? Complete with mascara running down my face and clutching my pearls.

Looks like things won’t go back to the way they were. There’s a man in my life that doesn’t take no for an answer. He’s the one who makes my blood run hot, cheeks turn red, and heart beat wildly within my chest. His name is Renegade.

I must admit this was my first book by Laramie and it totally rocked my socks off. Ryan “Renegade” Kepler is a man with a past who didn't let it dictate who and what he was to become. He has always been in love with his best friend older sister and one night he get to see he his dreams come to fruition, but one night is not enough and he will prove to her that their better together than apart. Whitney Trumbolt is what I like to call an experienced (older) woman and was feeling down on her luck and decided to live wild one night and fell into to bed with her little brothers best friend. Of course once her inhibitions returns she regrets it being that she older than him. Too bad repercussion from that night will have a lasting affect on them both for years to come. This book was great, the chemistry was explosive, the characters were relatable and the storytelling was beautifully told. The men of the Moonshine Task Force will leave you wanting more and impatiently waiting to see who's story is next.

I knew, without a doubt, as soon as I read the blurb that I HAD to read this book. I’m a fan of Laramie’s and always look forward to her books. I was hooked as soon as I opened the book. Okay, I have to state the obvious, I was hooked just from the cover. Lord that man is HOT!

Okay so back to the story. I loved the storyline! Whitney is a thirty-five year old divorcee that just wants to feel that passion; that intense-hot as hell-can’t get enough passion. In walks her little brother’s best friend; he’s been in love/lust with her forever. Problem is, he’s ten years younger than Whitney but one night wouldn’t hurt right? After that night, they find themselves in a situation neither ever dreamed of.

Whitney was such a strong and brave character. When she let her guard down, she was fun and hilarious. Renegade was…well, he was perfect. Almost too perfect. I would have loved to see some sort of flaw with him because he was just dreamy!

As much as I loved the storyline, I felt let down many times throughout the book. I wish there was more drama, more angst. There were moments in the book where I thought, “Yes, here comes some angst” and then nothing. BUT that’s not a bad thing! I could see this book being made into a Hallmark Channel movie and I absolutely adore those movies!

I’m looking forward to Tank’s story; especially after he was described as a Jax look-alike. Hell yes please!

4.0 out of 5 stars ****4 ‘Pew Pew’s & Propositions’ STARS**** 13 March 2017

I’ve made a pretty consistent effort this year to read books by new-to-me authors as often as I can and Laramie Briscoe is one of them. This engaging story of learning to love and let go and live wasn’t at all what I expected. A little bit of a guide to actually working on a Moonshine Task Force, crushing on your best friends older sister and learning to let go of old hurts and live the happy in the ‘now’ this is not your typical younger man/older woman love story.

“Somewhere in this ordinary life that we’ve been sharing, our fairytale started. It wasn’t with a glass slipper, or some extremely monumental event in our lives.”

Since she divorced her douchebag ex-husband, Whitney ‘Whit’ Trumbolt’s been spending her nights alone and has had enough. Looking to let loose and get lucky she’s got no idea what in store for her night out. When her baby brother’s best friend cruises into the same bar and shoos away her perspective good time guys she’s left with nothing but to drunkenly proposition him – and he accepts…wholeheartedly. But Whit’s been burned badly, she’s not looking for anything more than a hook up – nothing more.

“Making myself vulnerable in that way just isn’t possible yet. No matter how bad I want it.”

Ryan ‘Renegade’ Kepler has crushed on Whit for years. Best friend to Whit’s brother Trevor, and an unofficial member of the family, he’s grown up with their family and lusted from afar. Until the night he spots her in the middle of a pack of salivating men at the bar. Nuh-uh, they’re not getting anywhere near Whit if he has anything to say about it. When she propositions him in the cutest way ever there’s no way he’s saying no. But in the light of the morning after Whit’s ready to move on and he has no idea how to deal with that – he wants a future – with Whit.

“I’ll win you over before all is said and done.”

This story made my cheeks pucker in the best way; it was so sweet and swoony. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty more going on but the heart of this story: friends, family, loyalty, love and overcoming your past – it’s wonderful. Whit’s gun shy, she likes Renegade (and certainly enjoys burning up the sheets with him!) she just isn’t ready to love him. Her ex did a real number on her mentally and physically, it’s going to take time for her to come to terms with what she wants in life moving forward – and she takes that time, almost the entire book focuses on her inner battle while coming to terms with what Renegade means to her – and the fact that he is 10 years her junior. On the flipside, Renegade has wanted Whit from the moment he clapped eyes on her. He’s a product of a horrible childhood and wants nothing more than to show Whit he’s the one she should ‘try’ with. The result of their one-night-stand turns out to be something neither of them thought possible and makes ‘trying’ a friendship, if not relationship, even more important. I adored Renegade’s patience with Whit. While I got a tiny bit frustrated that she didn’t come to certain realizations sooner he did not. He loved her and continued to show her the many reasons they deserved a happy life together; it’s swoon-worthy.

“There are moments in life you don’t expect. I’ve experienced quite a few in my life.”

I loved that there was a bit of the task force work and moonshine still production information blended in with this tale. While the story focuses on Renegade and Whit’s love story we get to meet additional members of the police force and task force that leads in seamlessly for futures books. The friends and family of this community gave me the warm fuzzies – loyal, blunt, and honest and loving these are the folks you’d choose to surround yourself with. A little angst works its way into the story with a little bit of uncertainty and sadness that acts as a catalyst for Whit and honestly I saw it coming early on as the author needed a vehicle to show Whit that she needed to take hold of her happiness with both hands and let go of the past. It didn’t effect my enjoyment and was paced well considering it’s placement in the book timeline.

“For once, I have to let go of the fear, and let the truth fly. If there’s ever been a time in my life to stop letting fear rule my life, it’s now.”

With a new community of family and friends the Moonshine Task Force Series is off to a wonderfully solid start. Peppered with sugar and spice this book certainly has a little bit of everything to keep you entertained and swooning. I loved watching their love unfold and their demons put to bed. In all, I loved this book and look forward to the next in the series. There’s a peek into book 2 (listed as a June 2017 release) at the end of this story and I must say…I’m ready now. Bring on June…

“Thank you for being everything I’ve always wanted but never had.”

Loved it! Renegade and Whitney are amazing together! Renegade will just make you swoon and your heart will be smitten! Renegade has been crazy about Whitney most of his life. One problem, she's his best friend's older sister. One night of trying to forget the past and wanting to live for once in her life and shake aside what every one else expects of her, she lets her hair down! Enter Renegade and the best night of her life! Renegade hopes he can convince her to give him a real chance and then imagine his surprise when he hears the news she just received! Will Whitney give him the chance to show what he can be for her? Lots of love, tenderness, laughs and pure sexiness, Ms Briscoe gives us another great book that will have you turning the pages! Don't miss out on this exciting new series that takes place in the deep south! Roll Tide! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Story 19 March 2017

This is the cutest love story of Ryan and Whitney. Ryan "Renegade" has had a crush on Whitney, his best friend Trevor's older sister since he was a teenager. Whitney has never given him the time of day because she's ten years older than him. But one night she sees Ryan at a bar while she's drinking herself into numbness after a nasty divorce and they have a nights of passion. They both think it's going to be a one night stand but they didn't use protection because Whitney thought she couldn't get pregnant. Of course she does and now they have to figure out what kind of relationship they can have given that a baby is on the way. Whitney is super gun shy about relationships after her abusive marriage so she initially keeps Ryan at arms length. But Ryan is really mature for his age and has wanted Whitney for so long he is willing to go really slow so she feels comfortable with him. Slowly but surely Whitney learns to trust and eventually falls head over heels in love with Ryan.

I really liked this book a lot. Other than Whitney's uber cautiousness there isn't a lot of angst or tension between the couple which actually was refreshing. There weren't any skeletons in their closet or former partners coming out of the woodwork to wreak havoc. Its nice to see people just fall in love without a whole lot of complications sometimes. I also liked the subplot of Blaze and Trevor and look forward to reading their story next. I am a big fan of Ms. Briscoe"s work and this one did not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Listen To Me.... 11 March 2017

Listen up, Laramie Briscoe!! Stop writing that I keep falling in love with!! You're turning me in to the ULTIMATE BOOK BOYFRIEND WHORE!!!! Just kidding! Once again, you have left me breathless!
Let me just say, for some reason, which I cannot explain, I don't normally read older woman/younger man novels. Weird, right? Like I said, I can't explain it. However, this is Laramie Briscoe, who has never had a novel let me down. (#MyReaper anyone?) Man, I am so glad I took the leap into this novel. SO GLAD!!!
Oh, Renegade!! Lord have mercy with the heart palpitations this man caused me!! He is PERFECTION!!! The way he loved on words. None!
Whitney was a treasure. I LOVED her weakness, her strength, and her eventual love of Renegade.
I truly appreciated the way this story flowed without all the normal drama we find so often in novels these days, not to say that I don't like that. But, sometimes you just want a slow burn love without the other woman or typical misunderstanding. This was a refreshing story about a progression to life's greatest I cannot wait to see what comes of Tank and Blaze's story.
5- If I Didn't Love Reaper, I'd Lick Renegade- STARS ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars True Love is Forever! 10 March 2017

OMG, what an amazing story! I loved the relationships between Whitney and Ryan and Ryan and Trevor. Ryan has been obsessed with Trevor's' older sister since forever. When they end up at a bar together Ryan's dreams come true. What was supposed to be a one time hookup changes into something so much more. I found myself totally rooting for this to all work out. Laramie, you just about killed me with that one chapter (yes, you know which one it is). The feels in this story was off the chains, I laughed, sighed, cried (good and bad) found my next book boyfriend in Ryan! Can't wait for Trevor's story.
