I've been waiting with baited breath for Beverley Eikli's latest novel, her first for the Choc Lit stable, and all I can say has proved to be well worth the wait. Her trademark firebrand heroine has found a new depth with this captivating novel.
Your world crumbles with her's in the opening scenes, and it is a deliciously enticing ride as she reconnects with life, love and her burning inner passions. And who better to help her get over losing Jack, the dashing spy who has left her in the most precarious predicament, than the delectable Angus, with his rippling muscles and deeply passionate nature... he is the substance while Jack is the flash... but as we all know so well - sometimes it takes a while for substance to outshine flash.
And that's where this novel lets Eikli's talent really shine, for the subtle sensual lovestory evolves to include a daring spy adventure, where both heroine and hero find themselves embroiled in the dark machinations of revolutionary France. I don't believe I breathed deeply again until I turned the final page. This is a tour de force from my favourite regency romance writer, delivering well beyond my expectations.
