Product description

Product Description

As a founder of a growing company, do you want to lead your business down a well-worn path of traditional leadership? Or do you believe something more is possible?

In Reinventing Scale-Ups, Brent, Susan and Travis invite you to explore radical ideas that will challenge your own thinking about what it means to be a leader. The authors profile outlier and progressive organizations around the world whose leaders have chosen to break from tradition and find new and unique ways of scaling-up. Reinventing Scale-Ups is a collection of ideas, experiences and practical tips to stimulate thinking and help you shape your organization.

What you won’t find in these pages are prescriptive answers and “best practices.” Instead, you will be challenged to ask yourself tough questions and will learn what creative approaches have emerged when others have similarly challenged themselves.

About the Author

Brent Lowe is The Scale Coach for Founder CEOs. His first-hand experience comes from founding and growing four companies. He also served on the leadership teams of three successful founder-led companies. Brent helped those organizations double revenues, integrate acquisitions, launch new businesses, and expand globally.

As a coach and author, Brent works with entrepreneurs and business leaders to conquer the steep learning curve that comes with rapid growth. Many of his clients are focused on solving problems related to the UN Global Goals for Sustainability.

Brent holds a Bachelor in Engineering & Management; an MBA; an MA in Counseling Psychology; and a certificate in Small & Medium-Sized Enterprise Board Effectiveness.

Susan Basterfield has lived and worked in 20 different countries and chose New Zealand as home in 2003. Most of her working life has been dedicated to leading IT organizations from startups to multinationals.

Today she participates within the Enspiral collective of entrepreneurs and serves the network as a Foundation Catalyst and Ambassador.

As a catalyst and convener, she helps individuals and organizations worldwide experiment with new ways of working and being, to actualize the workplace of the future. These include experiments in Self Management, Agile beyond Tech, Deliberately Developmental Organizations, Holacracy, Open Space Technology, Working out Loud, and Liberating Structures.

Her broader focus is on building digital learning platforms and communities of purpose and intentional practice. Susan is convenor of Teal New Zealand, with over 300 members. She holds a BA in Communications, a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning, and in 2015 received the Perkins Award for most exceptional body of work in the second cohort of Seth Godin s altMBA.

Travis Marsh coaches early to mid-stage startups and entrepreneurs at The Master s Mark and facilitates an Interpersonal Communications class at Stanford Graduate School of Business.

He also co-founded Courage Labs, a software company that unlocks humankind s motivation through a combination of Artificial and Human Intelligence run by a growing number of interlocking self-managed teams.

The thread connecting these endeavours is the desire to unleash people s potential by connecting individuals with their intrinsic motivation. He enjoys fast-moving problems and validating challenges with a combination of approaches informed by Lean Startup and Interpersonal Dynamics. Travis is also an International Coach Federation Certified Coach.
