I read this book (and the first notebook) in the hopes that it would be based around some of the emerging western mystery teachings, that maybe the author had done some research into them. But he has assumed that there is nothing but the physical existence, despite the reincarnation and perfect memory aspect. Heavens and Hells of the Mind by Imre Vallyon gives an abundance of clear and easy to follow teachings around the concept of reincarnation from a western perspective. It is just one example of many.
To come back straight away like is described in this story is not possible given the amount of time it takes for not only the physical body but also the invisible aspects of a human to develop. Which leads me to my next point. What the author is completely missing is the aspect and existence of a reality beyond the physical. Surely one would have to at least accept this reality if there is a part of us that survives after death and has the potential to remember.
Given that we can only see around 0.3% of the light spectrum, or “reality” with our physical eyes, to focus on such an esoteric subject without one mention of anything beyond the physical is for me a great disappointment.
I see that this is unfortunately being made into a movie, which will further perpetuate so many assumptions the author has made that aren’t necessarily based around reality.
Also, for people to use that many drugs it would completely mess up their connection with that invisible part of them that remembers. I spent 10 years in a meditation group working hard to reach that invisible part before the memories began to come. Not my first intention but it happened as a consequence of the regular work I did, avoiding drugs and anything else that messed me up.
And one more thing. These “special people” arrogantly walk around doing whatever they want. The concept of karma is totally ignored. It’s an absolute law that what you do in your current life sets up the reality of the next ones, and this isn’t mentioned really at all aside from the skills they developed. Whether someone remembers the destructive (or constructive) things they did in past lives it doesn’t matter. They still reap the results in this one.
What a shame. I won’t be seeing the movie

Read this before reading the Reincarnationist Papers and it set the scene for the story very nicely.
Well written and made me want to pick up the next book to read more. Would recommend that anyone planning to read this series start here.
