(This is volume three of three volumes meant to be read in sequence.)

Lovely, inexperienced Miss Carly Blakemore, only nineteen years of age, is received at her first post as governess for two precocious children, ready to love them as her own. But her biggest challenge will be their father; masterful and strong in everything—especially his kiss.

Poor and without dowry—and even worse—now orphaned, Miss Carly Blakemore is thrown into the Victorian world without aid. Carly is forced to seek a position as governess in the house of Lord Huntington, the Earl of Dunfordshire—a man alone in his own right—and under suspicion for the tragic murder of his well-known and adulteress wife. His governess’s honesty and forthrightness quickly offend his noble person, and he finds himself reeling from her constant evaluation of his lack of parenting skills. However, in the midst of his resentments, he finds himself strangely drawn in by her very no-nonsense ways that drive him to madness. Carly stands her ground in head-to-head battles of will that take her to the brink of dismissal.

Carly and the earl continually fight the feelings growing between them. Both are oblivious to the clouds of deceit and intrigue that are growing around the manor house, some bent upon removing the beautiful, headstrong governess permanently. A final desperate chase leads to an interception of a ship upon the high seas headed for the Mediterranean and a secret society of white-slave traders.

Couldn't put it down. For a writer's first series these books are very good. A bit far fetched but very readable & enjoyable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dramatic but endearing tale. 17 May 2014

My goodness. . . kidnapping, assault, attempted seduction, sabotaged engagement, and a jealousy-crazed murderous woman. . . just what a romance novel needs to make you appreciate the happily-ever-after. Thank goodness that this was the final Volume because I don't think I could take any more misfortune happening to the beloved main character, Carly. Overall, The Governess was a sweet romance story with interesting characters and a bit of drama. For me personally, it was a much too long of a tale because of it's slow pace - but personal determination to finish the story kept me reading it. I did enjoy the writer's style so am willing to check out other books by her.

5.0 out of 5 stars self-published 8 September 2013

With most authors that are self-published I can live without reading their books. You wouldn't believe some of the rot out there. But with Ellise C Weavers Huntington Saga The Governess series, all 3 books, I might add, that is not the case. They are very well written, with a hugely enjoyable story line, and well edited to boot. I read all three stories in two days, reading for a large portion of the day. I simply could not put my kindle down once I started reading. Well worth the value considering that a book that probably comes close to 600 or 700 pages in it three volume entirety only ended up costing me less than 3 dollars. It was vastly amusing, and I am looking forward to reading any further stories written by her. I challenge anyone else to read this as well. See if you do not become charmed with the characters and the vivid description of the countryside. I only wish that at some point after they became engaged that her heritage would have been made known to those who scorned her for being a servant. After all, her father was a third son of nobility, and her mother a daughter of nobility. That should count for something. I wonder if her grandparents will ever show up in the series. However, I think she was almost done away with/almost raped one too many times. Boy did she have a talent for getting into trouble! Enjoy the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reading 24 April 2014

Even though I did occasionally put this aside for awhile, it was very hard to do. Very good writing. There was no confusion. And I have greatly enjoyed all 3 volumes.

Finally, Carly learned to put her complete trust in Lord H. - But back then a female is not raised knowing how to handle being jilted by a man - especially a lord - who had caused her to distrust all men. Plus with all the lies the jealous females were saying and their actions, no wonder she still doubted Lord H's love.

This is a story not just about Romance but also intrigue and danger (to Carly) - & more than once. It was very easy to 'get into' the book and become very upset with the jealous females even when it became evident that one was actually 'crazy'.

I look forward to the next volume to see just what Penbrooke tries to do to Lord H and probably Carly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Wait! 6 August 2013

No really, I didn't expect Ellise to have volume III waiting in the wings on the last day of July. I was prepared to wait longer. But she did produce what she promised! I, unlike most people, adore serial novels. I especially enjoy authors that continue "remembering" characters in new story lines. Even a brief glimpse or mention of a main character in a new story line just thrills me. Anyway, I didn't think there was much left to say after the first two books but I was wrong. This was a fine love story and Creighton was the hero of all time. I've not enjoyed a character so much since Georgette Heyer's, The Devils Cub. I can't wait until the next book. Thanks for taking me on a delightful adventure.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wow! An actual Christian romance! 16 February 2014
By Jan Carpenter - Published on Amazon.com

This was the first Christian romance novel I have ever read. It was refreshing to read and not have to worry about the use of inappropriate language or sexual situations that left nothing to the imagination! I thought this made the book (& the 3 book series) even more interesting & romantic! Much better than other "romance" novels that are all about the sex and very little actual romance. This book definitely had sexual, passionate characters, but their 'romance' was enhanced by the respect they had for each other and themselves!
I did not give it 5 stars because it was a little too wordy and could/should have been a 2 book series, not 3. Other than that, I found the books to be interesting, entertaining, sexy, and mysterious. But more importantly, as a Christian, I loved being able to read a well written Romance novel without feeling guilty!!
