This book has me in two minds. I liked the storylines and I liked the characters. The one thing I struggled with was the dialogue. I felt that it didn't flow and was at times disjointed. I didn't feel that it was written in the way that people actually speak. This is one example, "I am not going. I only have eight months left then I am out. So I am staying behind with Braden. I am happy about that too. As much as I hate that the guys have to go, I am done with war." Nobody I know speaks like that. All of the I am's would be abbreviated to I'm. This happened with every character multiple times right throughout the book and it made it a struggle for me to read. In saying that, I would buy the second book in the series as I'm interested to see where Faith & Seth's storyline goes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid debut 8 April 2017
By Amy Brock McNew - Published on Amazon.com

A solid debut from Rogers. I was expecting a good military romance. I got that and more. This story pulls you in and drags you along for the ride. I read it straight through. That doesn't happen often. Rogers knows how to tell a story with emotion, depth, and intensity. I love that she didn't shy away from the issues our soldiers face when they return home. As an Air Force mom from a military family, I appreciated her honesty and directness, and the fact that she addressed the issues in the back of the book, including contacts for getting help. Her characters were well-developed and intriguing. Oh, and I hate Oliver. Then again, you're supposed to! She did her job well. There were a few editing errors, but nothing that pulled me out of the story. All in all, I really enjoyed it. It's a story I'll definitely pick up and read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST read! A MUST One Clicker! 30 May 2015

I couldn't put this book down. The emotions you go through with this book is so real. I love how you have the realism here. Braden & Skye got a second chance that most people don't get. It's not easy, but what relationship is? Steffy did an amazing job with this book & it's hard to believe this is just her first novel. There's no doubt in my mind that Steffy isn't the author to be watching. I cannot wait for book 2 in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, hotness, pain, and healing equals a book you must read 10 June 2016
By Jaime - Published on Amazon.com

My dad was in the service and when I was born, he left the Army so military books hold a special place in my heart.
Steffy Rogers is a new author to me and I couldn't wait to read this book from the blurb.
It give it all...heartbreak, finding love, losing love, reconnecting, death, loss, healing and learning to stop pushing people away.
I cried, laugh, cried some more and cheered as I read this book.

Steffy's writing style is great.
It flowed.
I didn't want to put it down.
The characters were believable and I felt like I was there with them along with the ride.
I can't wait to read more from this author, she definitely doesn't disappoint.
