This was one surprising read, it has some really tough scenes to read for both main characters that simply make you the reader shudder to your core. Both Rev and Annabel need redemption, they find it with each other, in a way they rescue one another from the mistakes of their past that really are not their fault.

What I loved was the intense connection between these two characters and when Rev breaks his promise to her my heart split for Annabel and I was shattered and had tears in my eyes with her and just wanted to give her a hug. I wondered how someone like her can come from a family like she did, loved her affection for the animal kingdom.

Loved seeing the beautiful Willow again as that little girl took my heart in Vicious Cycle with her dad Deacon.

The physical scenes were passionate, sensual and erotic and again loved dual POV.

Again the whole family of the MC club make appearances and play their parts in Annabel's transformation from victim to survivor.

Only complaint was it felt slightly rushed towards the ending for me but I could not put this down.

Another good book from Katie Ashley. The Vicious Cycle series is a great read, this book is far more intense than other books I've read as it deals with the gruesome reality of the sex slave industry. A great deal of the beginning focusses on the industry. Rev goes in to save one of his men's daughters who has been sold and instead finds a beaten up red head who he swears he'll protect and save. The scenes are confronting and nothing like I have read previously but two lost, broken souls being fixed together works well and is realistic and they find their way through their pain to love.

Absolutely loved Vicious Cycle 1... could hardly put it down and gave it a rave review. I've waited in anticipation for the gorgeous Rev's story only to find it lacked the depth of V C 1. With Rev and Annabelle's tragic pasts, dangerous present circumstances and appealing personalities, there should have been a gripping connection. I wanted it to be there, I really did!

Further, the narrative seemed hurried, even abrupt. Other than Rev's back-story, the characters quickly 'moved on' from grievous, harrowing or heartbreaking situations without being given solid passages in the book to heal or reflect...you just don't get over stuff like that in such a short amount of time. There wasn't enough time allowed for the characters to disclose their inner-voice, allowing readers to gain insight or to take the characters close to our hearts.

So, sadly the book's plot, the flow of the narration and descriptive structure were elements that just missed the mark.

HASH(0xb3b7f9d8) out of 5 stars Rushed, and unrealistic story line. Don't hate me. 8 October 2015

I know I'm going to be in the minority. Which isn't surprising considering how amazing Katie Ashley's books usually are. But I had so many issues with this one, it was like I wasn't even reading the same author.

Rev and Annabel connected through a violent sexual history. Rev's when he was a young boy, Annabel very recently at the hands of a sadistic Mexican kingpin. And I found it to be the most unrealistic, rushed love story I've come across in a long time.

The story line was rushed. For me there was no emotional connection to the story. Though the characters went through some serious trauma, I didn't feel their struggle at all. There was no depth to Rev, or Annabel. It was extremely disappointing.

I give Katie Ashley props for writing a book so soon after the arrival of her little one. And like I said, I'm normally a HUGE fan. But personally, this one just didn't do it for me.

REVIEW:
In a nutshell this book was about two people emotionally scarred by what life had thrown at them. It was interesting that you couldn’t really tell who was healing whom, but that was also part of the journey. It helped that I truly liked Rev and Annabel so even when it got a bit maudlin, I had faith that things would gear back up. I enjoyed the people surrounding them and the action didn’t overpower the romance nor did the recovery from the trauma. This book doesn't fall in the dark, hot and heavy biker romance category. I would decribe Redemption Road as heartfelt, enjoyable and balanced.

HASH(0xb3b86408) out of 5 stars Sex trafficking, and motorcycle clubs, can they save each other before it’s too late? 17 December 2015
By Dark Faerie Tales - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: Sex trafficking, and motorcycle clubs, can they save each other before it’s too late?

Opening Sentence: “The whirring sound of his mother’s ancient hand mixer drew Nathaniel’s attention away from his homework.”

The Review:

Rev is back and the focus of this second installment of the Vicious Cycle books. He and his brother’s are planning a raid on Mendoza’s compound to rescue Sarah from sex trafficking. Annabel was kidnapped from the University of Texas A&M several months ago. When Rev kicks in the door and finds her, he feels he has no choice but to rescue her even though she isn’t who they are looking for. Breakaway is devastated when he finds out the building that was holding the girls including his daughter Sarah was rigged to explode killing all inside.

Breakaway is also the club’s doctor and he has to work on Annabel to save her life from the trauma that Mendoza inflicted upon her. When she wakes up and finds out she will never be able to physically carry her own child, she loses it and attempts to kill herself. Rev saves her by telling her his secret and the trauma he has carried for years about his own rape, and his father killing the man who did it to him.

Annabel decides she can’t go back to her life, so she makes the trip with Rev to Raiders compound in Georgia. As she starts to fit into his life and they fall in love, will she be safe from Mendoza or will he find her and kill her in the end?

I like the first book, Viscious Cycle, but I actually liked this one quite a bit more. I feel like the author handled the trauma and the aftermath in a great way. I almost felt myself in tears a time or two and that isn’t my normal reaction to a romance read. So is this book heavy? Oh yes, it is but I really feel like you connect with the characters and their experiences. You find yourself cheering for them and hoping it all works out in the end.

I am not going to lie, I loved Sons of Anarchy, but I feel like motorcycle romances tend to kind of make it appear that the lifestyle is better than it is, so I am not always a fan of that. However, I do like that the author shows them as rough men, ready for violence but always willing to make changes due to all the violence in their lives to make the lives of the people they love better. So I have to say, I am really digging this series, the books just keep getting better and better and I can’t wait for Bishop’s story in the third book, The Last Mile.

Notable Scene:

“He had been desperate since three nights ago a personal tragedy within our club allowed him a tiny glimpse at my long-buried secret.”

“As far as suffering from PTSD, the lifestyle I had known before I went into service had prepared me to deal with the horrors of war.”

“But a the moment, money, status, prestige, didn’t mean s***.”

“As I closed my eyes, I wished that Rev had never found me, and instead had allowed me to die on the floor of Mendoza’s compound like the worthless trash I was.”

FTC Advisory: Signet/Penguin provided me with a copy of Redemption Road. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.
HASH(0xb3b862d0) out of 5 stars The good, the bad and the ugly !!! 5 November 2015
By Cheryl Ann Avola - Published on Amazon.com

Katie Ashley does it again....Redemption Road, the second in the Vicious Cycle Series, has the reader riveted right from the very revealing prologue to the sweet and perfect ending. From the beginning of this ride we are taken on, we know that the lines between good and bad will be blurred. We know we are going to witness ugly and devastating loss but have hope that the mixing of the good and the bad can overcome all that is ugly.

Let's start with the "good". Annabel Percy loves animals and dreams of being a vet and independent of her family. Her over-bearing and snobbish parents want her to be a debutante. . They are unfit, self-serving parents and she wants nothing to do with their wealthy unloving lifestyle. Annabel decides one night to step out of her normal parent approved activities and throw caution to the wind. She accepts a motorcycle ride from a dark handsome stranger. Not all is as it seems and this one decision will change her life forever.

Rev Malloy is the "bad" boy we first met in Vicious Cycle. Rev is the intellectual brother of Deacon and Bishop Malloy. He has his own deep secret that has molded him into the man he is today. He has done very bad things but always in the name of good. He and his two brothers are elite members of the Raiders MC. Their deceased father started the club and now Rev being the "prez" was trying to legitimize their club. With his brother Deacon away on his honeymoon, Rev is called upon by Breakneck, a fellow MC member and his confidante, to use what ever power necessary to rescue his daughter, Sarah , who was a kidnapped sex slave in Mexico. Breakneck is the club's doctor and has helped and saved many a member including Rev. Rev knows no matter what danger this brings he would do this for his friend.

Here's where we get to the "ugly" . Mendoza is the ugliest scum of the earth. He sells, abuses and rapes young girls he has kidnapped. He is a leader of a Mexican drug cartel and is the devil himself.
He runs the "sex camp" where Sarah is believed to be held. Mendoza is a crazed sociopath who will never allow anyone to take what he thinks is his. I hated him so much I didn't care to find out his first name ...let's call him Douche-o Mendoza.

When Rev and his gang break into the camp to rescue Sarah all hell breaks loose. He stumbles upon a badly beaten Annabel and both their lives change forever. Can Rev and his friends save Annabel's life? Will he be able to heal her with his kind and understanding ways? In turn, can Annabel's love relieve Rev of his nightmares and make her feel whole again? Will this motorcycle club family become her one true family? See I told you...totally riveted!!!

AS Katie Ashley does so perfectly , we are gifted a sexy and dark tale of a knight in shining armor ( really a MC brother riding a motorcycle and wearing a cut) who finds his damsel in distress whom he helps become fearless and who without a second thought will put her life on the line for those she loves. Together they put their victimized pasts behind them to motor cycle off into the sunset to their perfect tomorrow. Riveted!!!!

SO ....as if this story didn't have enough we are also given the gift of little Willow , Rev's six year old niece, who was the spark in Vicious 1 and continues to make you smile in RR. Okay and yes their is a baby doe rescued named Poe that has me wanting to watch Bambi right now!!

Now let's see what youngest brother Bishop has under his cut !!!
HASH(0xb3b862dc) out of 5 stars Awesome book...Rev for the win 12 October 2015

“Somehow two broke people had found the other half that completed them and made them whole. The worst of circumstances had brought us together, but some of the greatest loves in the world were born of tragedy.”

Nathaniel “Rev” Malloy has always been the more compassionate, the one more into books, the softer one you could say, amongst the Malloy brothers. But don’t let that deter you. As the president of the club, he makes the toughest decisions and will do anything to protect his brothers and his family. He can be pretty badass, when it calls for it.

“He was such a paradox- a tender, gentle soul wrapped up in a handsome, yet hard and gruff exterior.”

Annabel Percy has gotten everything handed to her just about her entire life, all her decisions made for her, pretty much every single one of them. As much as she loves everything that she has, she would love just a little bit a freedom. Just a little room to breathe and be herself. Just once she decides to risk playing by the rules to get a little thrill. When she ditches her date, one chosen for her, for just one night and onto the bike of a sexy rider, her life will change forever. Never in her life would she have imagined that one decision could have turned into this result.

“Here was a man who was trying in every single way to help me find peace and healing. A man who had connected with me because he had been through his own hell.”

Rev was approached by the clubs doctor for help getting his daughter back. It puts Rev in a tough spot since he is trying to make the club clean and legit but taking on this mission will definitely put the club back out there. However, this mission touches a close subject to Rev, which is why the good doctor approached him in the first place. The doctor knew Rev wouldn’t be able to turn it down. He knew if anyone would be able to fight to bring his daughter back, Rev would be the man. Rev risks everything, of course, and tries not to involve anyone he doesn’t need to just to bring her back safe.

“A tormented life of unfilled dreams.”

With the help of other men from the other clubs, he gets to where he wants to be, but finds Annabel instead. Barely conscious and not knowing who she is at the time, he takes her and nurses her back to health. When Annabel pulls through, she is scared out of her mind, considering everything she has been through but Rev reassures her he will not hurt her and she believes him. There’s something about him that brings comfort to her. It’s like she knows it in her body that he will not hurt her and that he will protect her, that she is safer with him than anyone else.

“By showing true repentance for what you have done, you can find redemption. All you have to do is ask for forgiveness to whatever higher power or being you believe in.”

Annabel feels safe with Rev and within that short time of being with him, she decides to go back home with him since she has nowhere else to go. Her parents are probably frantically looking for her but she does not want to go back to that life just yet. Annabel settles in with Rev while she slowly recovers, bringing out a whole new different side of Rev. He devotes a lot of time to her. Getting to know her as much as he can, realizing they have a lot in common. They seem to bring out the best in each other. With Annabel in his home he thought it would be awkward at first but it’s a wonderful feeling coming home to her at home. It actually feels like a home with her there. He doesn’t want to think how it will be like once she leaves. She’s everything he ever wanted in a woman, heck she is even interested in the likelihood of the club. And the men would do anything to protect her. But the club kind of hits close to home for her, Annabel just isn’t cut out for the biker life. Their worlds just don’t mesh. They’re just too different.

“I believe in my heart of hearts that you were meant to save me. So maybe in turn, I’m meant to help you my showing you what a wonderful person you are, regardless of what negative voices in your head tell you.”
“We both have baggage. I’ll help you carry yours, and you can help carry mine.”

When the past comes rearing back to haunt them, there are just too many lives at stake. Is Annabel still worth protecting? Is she worth putting the club at jeopardy for? Or will one bad decision change their future? Can Rev and Annabel make things work? Or are their worlds that far apart that they can’t meet in the middle?

“The feeling of being with him was overwhelming. It was a connection of mind, body, and soul on a level I had never experienced before.”

I completely fell for Rev in the first book that I felt he needed his own book and I’m glad he did. But damn his story damn near killed me. I felt for him and Annabel and the situations that they both had to endure. But for two broken people to seek comfort in one another was a wonderful thing to see. They were able to heal together. Rev was so broken all these years and no one was able to help him but Annabel. And Annabel was so frightened yet sought comfort in Rev. It’s like she instantly knew. This story did its justice on how Rev is. He will do anything for anyone. Put his life on the line for anyone. The club was going straight, but he knew deep down that he needed to do this mission because he had a personal vendetta. I can’t wait for the next one!

I received an advanced copy for my honest review.
