Wow, this board is smooth. I upgraded from a Ride 10’6 to the Sport 11’, and I’m so grateful. I primarily SUP on a reservoir lake and local rivers. The Sport tracks extremely well, and glides on the water. I no longer have to work hard to paddle. I took it up stream and it did very well. My old board took a lot of strength to paddle upstream, and I always felt like I’d injure my shoulder, no such concerns with the Sport. This SUP is more narrow which requires more balance and agility. The diversity of the Sport is outstanding as it’s stable enough for a more advanced beginner and advanced enough for a more esteemed rider.
If you’re concerned about the price remember this is an investment, unlike the cheap SUP’s that are likely to pop after a season, Red boards are built to last.
I will mention that the side batons are a bit tricky to place for a petite person, but they are well worth the benefit of superb tracking. The FCS fin also helps achieve a higher quality ride, but at 8 inches it can be difficult in shallow waters. There are many different sized fins that can be purchased to fit in the standard US fin box for shallow water supping.
A SUP for the paddler looking for more speed and dynamic performance The Red Paddle Co Sport 11ft Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board offers a step up from the Ride family and has been designed for the more experienced paddler to deliver more speed and dynamic performance (although they're not race boards). Its secret lies in the board's sleek shape which cuts through the water cleanly, and the drawn-out nose section gives them more glide across the water. The Red embossed decked not only provides a great cosmetic finish but also offers additional grip whilst paddling. The 11'0'' offers fast inflation and great flat-water performance for riders up to 90kg/198lb. If you are looking for slightly more stability then the is suited to a slightly larger rider. The board comes with a durable fin from world leading surfboard fin creators FCS. They're slotted into the fin box easily by hand and secured in place with a finger bolt. How does RSS make things stiffer Red Paddle Co's patented RSS, or Rocker Stiffening System, makes their boards up to 40 percent stiffer by displacing the rider's weight over a greater length of the board. It works by slotting two stiffening battens into pockets that are individually laminated on to the side of the board. The battens are attached to cords held down with hook and loop fastener tabs, making them really easy to remove. Lightweight but strong MSL fusion composite and airtight coating, MSL involves fusing a second layer of hard-wearing polymer to the drop-stitch core at the raw material stage, removing hand glueing errors. The high-tech industrial process saves almost 2kg in weight whilst making the boards stiffer at lower pressures. With Red Paddle Co's third generation of MSL material now in use, Red Paddle Co's boards are more durable than ever, if you don't believe us then check out this of us driving a 22-tonne digger over it!
