I like this genre. I like it because it’s a good combination of potential occurrences, human abilities and relative facts.
I like this book because Mr Dietz does all of the above really well.
For me the risk in writing this type of story is in the magnitude of the tale itself. I mean a world war is big isn’t it and this size means that anything other than a really good storyteller can lose the reader in the size of the story being told.
In this book you will read about individuals who are faced with incredible odds and striking problems in a very small part of the bigger war. Once you get used to the fact that the author is talking about a small section of the wider conflict and once you realise he ties the ‘bits’ together really well you will enjoy the read. To many times authors go deep into the feelings and thoughts of the characters and then seem to rush the actual action but not here. This story starts with an aim to ‘introduce’ the people of he story and then just doesn’t stop until you finally lift your head up say ‘wow’....
For the fans of Red Storm Rising and Team Yankee you will Love this read and I am diving into the next instalment - with thanks.
