"A truly awesome work. . . . Enormously engaging and thought provoking. The concept itself is remarkable, and the writing is absolutely beautiful."--Kim Neimi, former executive vice president, NBC Universal
"Recruits is mind-bending storytelling. . . . An adventurer's feast of the most addictive sort."--Tosca Lee, New York Times bestselling coauthor of Forbidden
"Wow! Recruits is a remarkable feat, combining adroit storytelling with a delicious mixture of the now and the fantastic."--Phyllis Tickle, former senior editor, Publishers Weekly
It's a world they've seen only in their dreams--until now.
Twins Sean and Dillon Kirrel have dreamed about a world beyond their own since they were children, but it has always been a fantasy. Not long before their eighteenth birthday, however, the arrival of a mysterious new neighbor and the revelations he shares bring that far-off world within reach.
When Sean and Dillon learn they share a unique gift--the ability to transfer instantly between worlds--they are offered an opportunity to prove themselves as recruits to the planetary Assembly. But unlocking their abilities awakens an enemy beyond anything they ever imagined, thrusting them into an interplanetary conflict that could consume the entire human race.

I loved this book. I was sent a paperback addition of this book for free for an unbiased review. After reading a few pages I bought the kindle version because that is my first choice of reading a book. Too bad they don't offer the free version in e-book format. Anyway, I loved this book and already have the sequel on my wish list. As usual, Thomas writes a book that is tense and spell binding. You get involved with the characters. The reader feels what the characters feel, whether it is the past relationships or the future ones of the characters. Dillion and Sean, twins that in their world seem to feel inadequate are gifted to save a world beyond their understanding. They are teens with grown up experiences. They are misunderstood because they are so young and inexperienced but they have abilities that are beyond their superiors realm of understanding. They have baggage which helps to identify with them because most of us do. Read this book. I think you will love it.
I really enjoyed this story this guy's a great storyteller a lot of people can write not very many can tell a good story. It was very entertaining enjoyed it a lot. Don't just think that this was a ya story I'm 77 years old and I really like it.

... Davis Bunn’s series of Thomas Locke-pseudonymed sci-fi/fantasy novels! Some devices and themes here bear resemblance to Bunn’s/Locke’s terrific Fault Lines trilogy, but his canvas in the Recruits series is much more cosmic, intergalactic, even universal. Mind-expanding for both teens and adults, and more “cinematic” than ever!!
