A must read for recovering women!Reviewed in Canada on 27 July 2013
I read this because I have a friend in recovery. Then I bought another copy and passed it on to her. It gave me a much better understanding of what it is like to have addictions, to be abused, and the resulting trauma and PTSD that follows. I felt that I was almost able to get inside my friend's head and understand her behaviour. As I told her, she appeared on almost every page. Then it gives some insight into strategies to help in recovery. It has questions at the end of each chapter and the author recommends these being done with a therapist, which is what I recommended to her. For a woman in recovery it is reassuring that they are not the only one travelling this path.

Beautiful text ascribing empowerment to the modern American womanReviewed in the United States on 22 November 2016
Beautiful text ascribing empowerment to the modern American woman who has the myth of Wonder Woman and Super Mom but whom, in reality has still been raised with sexual abuse, misogyny, and the male expectation to be nice, passive, emotionally unstable and dim while maintaining super-model hair, makeup and body. How do we balance this while keeping a sane and loving heart? Read the book <3
