Small Angry Planet is about found family and the journey and the importance of friends.
A Closed And Common Orbit is a book a lot of things but also about shaping your body and your narrative to your identity. And AI. One half of the novel is a coming of age story and it is hard and painful. The other half, Sidra's story, is a trans narrative and it doesn't pull back from the need to discuss the importance of having control over your body and your destination - through tattoos, through changing how you shape and present your body to match your identity. It's about learning to be and the importance of hope. Also, it is a story about sentient computers and social importance of space sesame street.
This one picks up on family and identity again. It's a story about taking pride in who you are, and tradition and love. It's about families - Tessa and the kids, Isabel and her wife, Eyas and the relationship she makes. It's a story about the importance of love and how and where you make your home and the vulnerability of people who have no one and good parents who love their kids. It's about the importance traditional and change and community.
It's also about the closed world of the Exodus ships slowly coming open, and space socialism.
I basically just want to draw little heart eyes around this book.
