Product Description

Jeanine is on the run from someone very powerful. She doesn't know who wants her dead, or why. She only knows they have already killed her family, and if they catch her, she's next.

Drake's family was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now, he drifts from spaceport to spaceport, searching for cargo and running from the grief he can never escape. When Jeanine barrels into Drake's life, he must push aside his grief and run with her.

But time is not their ally. When they cannot run from their enemies, Jeanine's and Drake's only hope is to run toward those enemies. Their only hope is to make The Recognition Run.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great new series by Henry Vogel 2 July 2017

A great new series by Henry Vogel. In addition to his usual scifi thriller/adventure story, Vogel has added a generous splash of mystery, a computer slicer (hacker) character, and an atmosphere of political intrigue among royal families, reminiscent of C. J. Cherryh's Foreigner series and George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones series, only with a more positive attitude. I can't wait to see how the mystery unfolds in the sequels.
2.0 out of 5 stars Stretches belief too far. 5 July 2017

After being surprised the (would be heroine?) throws a knife into one goons throat and another goons eye. Then after turning to see grandad has won a four to one conflict he tells her to run because they here, no twenty, but ONE set of footsteps. It's just too unreal. I enjoyed the Scouts and Fugitive series but this is just too far beyond belief. Combat does not have to be super real but this just destroys any possible suspension of disbelief.
5.0 out of 5 stars The start of an an exciting new series! 5 July 2017

Great start to what I hope is another series from Henry Vogel! Lots of action and intrigue, strong female characters, romance, and surprising twists and turns! We follow Jeanine as she escapes from pursuers bent on killing her - and she doesn't even know why. She's smart and talented, though, so she figures things out quickly enough to stay ahead --and is lucky enough to meet up with and be helped by Drake in the process. And as any fan of this planetary romance author knows, a budding romance between the two leads is a key element of the story! I really enjoy his characters --
they are very real and down to... well, maybe I can't say "down to earth" , but they're definitely relatable characters with humor and seriousness combined -- people that I care what happens to! This is a compelling addition to Vogel's other works -- I read it all in one sitting and am looking forward to the next one!
4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Sci-Fi set in a wonderfully crafted world 4 July 2017

Another fun and entertaining book by Vogel. The Recognition Run is firmly in the sci-fi genre but this time in a world with political conflict and power struggles that remind me slightly of Dune. The Recognition Run introduces readers to a new universe where there’s not only space ships, but also a royal family, a world ruled by a Duchy, a mysterious stone, and a rebellion in the works.
The book follows three characters, Jeanine as she searches for who she is and tries to fulfill her destiny, Drake as he regains something to live for, and Olivia as she seeks revenge. Two of the main protagonists, Jeanine and Drake, are likable badasses similar to Vogel’s characters in his other books, but Olivia is different as she could be considered the antagonist.
Overall I was intrigued and excited about the mix of plots. There is a lot going on in this book, and it’s a great start to a new series by Vogel that I’m excited to see where it heads. I really enjoyed this book and its been my favorite of all the books by Vogel so far. I'd give it a 4.5, but that is not an option.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent tale from Henry Vogel! 1 July 2017

I've had the privilege of being counted among Henry Vogel's "Beta-Readers" for some time, now. As such, I get advance copies of his stories at no charge, to proofread. "The Recognition Run" is my fourth or fifth such, and I have to say that I was not disappointed. Once again, Vogel has given his readers a pair of characters (Jeanine and Drake) who are at once interesting, intriguing, and endearing. There's a puzzle of galactic importance, to be solved, and danger is waiting for the couple around nearly every turn. The characters are well-crafted, the pacing is absolutely perfect, and any reader who's enjoyed Robert Heinlein or Andre Norton will absolutely love this book!
