I purchased the first book in paperback some time ago. It was a fun read by a new author. Being a new author, one should expect some rough edges in a first work. There were a few, but not enough to detract from the basic strength of the story.
I had always meant to buy the next book in the series to see how things played out for the crew of the Reckless Faith, but I never got around to it. Then I stumbled across this offer for the whole trilogy in Kindle format and couldn't resist.
The author has definitely improved. He reworked the first story a bit, sanding off some of the rough edges and improving the story. You can see his growth as an author in books two and three. The stories are tighter and still quite entertaining. The science is as plausible as it can be considering the galaxy he is portraying. The character development thorough without being overbearing. The reader quickly finds they going on an enjoyable ride.
Join the plucky, determined crew of the Earth vessel Reckless Faith as they blaze a trail of chaos across the galaxy, surviving on sheer tenacity, cunning, and a bit of good fortune. Along the way they find civilizations of bizarre creatures, vast enemy fleets, strange alien planets, space pirates (like normal pirates, but in space), and many more challenges. Alone against the odds, save for a few precious alliances, the Reckless Faith lives up to her name in an adventure that spans over 1200 pages.
