Product Description

WARNING: Author believes in soul mates and insta-love, proceed with caution if you're not a romantic at heart.

You've met Jack from "A Reason To Breathe" now meet his cousin and lumberjack Max, Max Hunter or as Mia likes to call him Thor, God of Thunder

You know what they say about lust at first sight . . . It's a seven deadly sin, but when you sin--you sin hard.

Max Hunter has a problem, well, two, actually. One he fished out of the river and the other . . . A killer.

Mia Roberts has a problem that stands six foot five and swings an axe like a God. On assignment to study the grizzlies of the Alaskan frontier, she stumbles across a body and then stumbles into the arms of a lumberjack she can't resist.

Throw in Max's mother into the mix and a handful of crazy friends and family and you have a recipe for adventure.

Rated B for Bossy, F for funny, T for Thor, God of Thunder, R for language, explicit sexual content and EDIBLE UNDIES. For mature audiences only. 18 and above.

A Reason To Kill by C.P. Smith

Max and Mia

First and foremost this story can be read as a stand alone although if you read it predecessor, A Reason To Breathe, you will come to appreciate A Reason To Kill that much more. It's packed with tons of passionate suspense, more hilarity then I fear you'll be able to handle, and some of the hottest and steamiest sex scenes I've ever read. C.P. does an outstanding job of keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire time you're engrossed in her stories. Every time she writes one, they just keep getting better and better.

Max... OMG MAX! He's got qualities that just keep surfacing and charming the pants right off my apprehensive body! I truthfully didn't even have to read a word of this story to know that I would completely fall in love with Max. I'm drawn to C.P.'s leading men like a moth to a flame. They are perfect in every way and Max is no different. He's bossy, sexy, rugged, in his prime, and for God sakes people, he's a damn lumberjack! Need I say more! He is the one thing that the town of Trails End depends on. His logging company is what keeps the town in business and it's people afloat. Enter Mia! She's a semi-city girl sent to Trails End to study grizzly bears. She hate bugs, camping, and her boss! When the town is presented with a murder and all fingers and axes point to Mia, what will Max do and how will he save Mia from conviction and HERSELF? And, how will he move her from possible to probable? Mia made me laugh out loud more times than I can count. I just love her "bear" t-shirts! "I'm over koalafied.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense and Romance in Alaska ❤️ 22 November 2014

Mia is a zoologist and city girl with a love for bears. This love permeates all aspects of her life. Although "vertically challenged" aka clumsy, she leads a team to Trails End, Alaska to collect data on a colony of Grizzlies. She expected a lot to go wrong, but never expected the catastrophes that took place. Never would she expect murder, accusations and romance.

Stumbling off the plane, she catches the eye of Max Hunter. He is a lumberjack and superhero rolled into one brawny, scowling hulk of a man. He is immediately drawn to her. In the synopsis, the author as a disclaimer about inta-love and soul mates....well, that is what happens. Mia has Max at her first trip and fall. It being a small town, they can't help but run into each other. He makes assumptions about her based on his past relationships and his previous experience with Mia's boss, who was the leader of previous trips, but she proves his assumptions wrong.

The setting of a small town in northern Alaska is amazing. I can just see the magnificent vistas and shimmering lakes. It also allows for the things only present in small towns, the gossips, the fast spread of rumors. The side characters are what also give it the small town feel. Max's mother Maxine and her best friend Martha who sell sex toys and do secret criminal investigations on the side. Jake, the handsome sexy lumberjack for Mia's friend. Mia's quirky aunt Jesse. The Bears being researched are a story unto themselves with Nala and her cub Booboo and the hulking Cowboy.

I love Mia. She accepts her limitations, but doesn't let them stop her. She has spunk. And, Max, well who wouldn't love Thor, God of Thunder in flannel.

This book had me from page one and I couldn't put it down. It is very well written, suspenseful and unique. It can be read as a standalone, but we get a glimpse of Jack and Jenn from A Reason To Breathe which I loved as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warning prepare to laugh your a** off and fall in love!!! 22 November 2014

Omg what I can say without giving everything away. I started reading C.P. Smith's books when I did a search for alpha male books and found her's on a blog list. I immediately fell in love with her writing. This book was amazing to me. I had to stop several time for fear of either dropping my iPad or peeing my pants laughing. The characters are so damn likable. Mia isn't your typical heroine. She's clumsy and klutzy and nerdy. She wears cartoons tees and undies with bears on her butt. I loved her and first breath. For once I could relate with a character. My closet is filled with character tees and my friends and I find the funnier something says or shows on underwear the better it is. Max what can I say about Max. Thank you for not making him a billionaire, a MC, or a cowboy. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE reading about all 3 of those but for once it was nice to have something different. It was a breath of fresh air. It was a different setting. The Thor references I loved. I am a huge Marvel fan so it was right up my alley. Everything about this book spoke to me because it wasn't your typical book. It was something that could happen in real life and the people seemed like real people. They held real jobs and acted like everyday people. This was hands down in my top 3 favorite books. I just finished and I want to jump back in and read again. Only this time I would like to read it again at night with a giant Green Willie as my flashlight. (those who read this will get this reference.) Read this book if you love a couple that can easily be a everyday couple with a typical meddling family and hea. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait to see what C.P. Smith comes out with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars highly enjoyable read! 6 January 2015

This book gets a big fat YAY! from me. : ) I loved the first story (A Reason To Breathe) & in this one we meet Jack's cousin, Max. Max is definitely a mountain man, and when he sees Mia, there's an instant connection - but he doesn't quite let on right away & she thinks he hates her. Their relationship does fall into the insta-love category, but it's done really well.

And Max's mom's business... ROTFL! There are some definite LOL moments, AND THERE ARE BEARS! I love bears, and so does Mia, and it all fits together for a really delightful read. (There's a killer on the loose & some twisty things going on as well, but it was still delightful!) I absolutely enjoy CP Smith's brand of storytelling! : )

1.0 out of 5 stars This book got on my nerves!!!!! 3 February 2015

The hero & heroine were idiots!!!! The h can't take a step or turn around without falling on her face or butt. She wears cloths that a child would wear. Shirts & underwear with cartoon characters on them. Baggy men pants. Hair always in a pony tail.
The hero has had a friend with benefits for like two years. He breaks it off with her when he starts things with the h. Yet when the ex gets drunk the hero goes to her, leaves the bar with her without even looking at, or speaking to the heroine. Stays with the ex for hours. Doesn't call the heroine or try to see her to put her mind at ease, explain. NOTHING!!!!
The h leaves. Instead of telling the H what a stupid thing he did she sends a text saying the "Hey, I was ready to go. I need more excitement, shopping malls, bla bla bla." Really?!?! STUPID!!!!!

The sex was good enough but they hardly had any meaningful conversations. The whole book the heroine was so UNSURE about EVERYTHING!!! It got so tiring. Open your month & ask him the questions your worried about. Dang!!! Really the H & h didn't even seem to be together that much.
I have to admit the sex party was funny. But the irritating things just outweighed the good. First & last time reading a book by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST ROMCOM/DRAMADIES OUT THERE ONE CLICK NOW!!! 22 November 2014

C.P. Smith does it again. A Reason to Kill blew me away. It had EVERYTHING I love in a book. Max was the HOT alpha male, Mia was the zany funny as hell heroine, and they were EXPLOSIVE. This story has plenty of drama and who done it action, along with hysterically funny scenes with the wonderful secondary characters C.P. put in this book. (one chapter is how to make a man lose his mind). The titles alone that she gives her chapters are worth the one click!!! When it comes to secondary characters I can't decide if I love Max's mom or Mia's aunt Jesse the best. When the two of them get together watch out Trails End Alaska!! This is C.P. Smith's third book, the second in the Reason series. A Reason to Breathe is just as wonderful as this one, it is not necessary to read A Reason to Breathe first to follow this book, but the characters from that book do make an appearance in this book, and I PROMISE, PROMISE you will not be disappointed in these books. If you love Kristen Ashley books you WILL LOVE C.P. SMITH!!
