About the Author
Kerrie Paterson writes contemporary women's fiction - mainly stories about women in their 40s and above who have reached a crossroads in their life - and small town romance. She loves to write about women's relationships with their friends and family, as well as their romances. She fits writing in between homeschooling her teenage son, driving him around to activities, running her website design business and being keeper of the family knowledge (aka 'Mum, have you seen my camera / phone / cable etc?'). In her spare time (ha!), she's a yoga student, keen photographer and avid reader. Kerrie lives in the Hunter Valley, Australia.

I loved the outdoorsy, adventure feel to this book. It’s beautifully written and the sweet romance is captivating. It has everything – danger, suspense, and action – and yet the underlying theme of helping those who need it most is heartwarming. A beautiful book, and a most worthy addition to the Bindarra Creek Romance series.

First up, I will say I am one of the Bindarra Creek Series writers. That out of the way, I loved Reaching for the Stars. Kerrie Patterson writes a beautiful story full of heart and soul.
Bindarra Creek is a small community in the northern tablelands of New South Wales, Australia. Stevie Ryan is a young divorced woman who works hard to support her two children and run a program called Reach for the Stars – an outdoor adventure scheme for kids at-risk kids. Sadly as in real life she desperately needs funding for her programme or it will have to close down and she could also lose her own home. Then Luke Fraser turns up to do a story on her and rent one of the cabins. It's a life-line she grabs with relief. But there is a lot more to Luke Fraser then she realises.
Stevie also has to deal with a teenager missing in the National Park. If her worse fears are realised than her program will definitely be shut down. She just needs a lucky break and then along comes a much worse danger that really tests her inner strength. Great story.

Kerrie Paterson writes beautiful, heart warming family-oriented stories. Reach for the Stars is not only a lovely romance, but also the inspirational story of Stevie Ryan who pours her heart and soul into running Reach for the Stars, her outdoor adventure program for at-risk kids. I love romance with a purpose and Ms Paterson delivers with this book.

A compelling and captivating storyline, believable characters AND part of a brilliant series. What's not to love?!
I'd highly recommend this book and the rest of the Bindarra Creek series.
I also love the concept of a bunch of writers collaborating to create a series, each taking a turn to write another instalment, separate but intertwined. I hope they decide to do it again.

After this story I wanted to go bush and have some off-road adventures! Aside from the romance, this writer had a great understanding and feel for the bush.

TOP 500 REVIEWER
The Bindarra Creek series has been topping Amazon's 'western' or 'rural romance' charts in Australia since the series launched in July 2015. 13 authors are involved in the self-pubbed anthology, with a book releasing roughly each month, all writing romance set in the fictional town of Bindarra Creek in outback New South Wales. This is the 5th book and the second story I've read by Kerrie Paterson.
It's a very sweet romance between Stevie (single mum who runs a program helping troubled youth) and Luke (jaded journalist/newspaper owner from Sydney).
What I enjoyed most was the action and adventure the author worked into this book, as the characters go on a bush camping trip for a week to help teach resilience and build character for troubled teens. Rock climbing, abseiling, flying fox and kayaking are all well described. When something goes wrong there is also an emergency services rescue of a boy on a rock ledge - this is done really well too.
A touch of suspense comes into the story when an escaped convict enters the area in which Stevie, Luke, and their campers are camping and this came at a good time, raising the stakes in the book.
Reach For The Stars is very well edited and well written and I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series (December 2015 release), by one of my favourite Aussie authors, Juanita Kees.

Another great book in this series by a group of very talented Australian authors. Kerrie Patterson has a lovely, free flowing style that is captivating to read. Bindarra Creek, the little town at the heart of all these stories has quickly become a quirky character in it's own right. It is a small community, and personal tragedy drives the heroine Stevie Ryan to invest both her heart and her money in a programme to help at risk kids.
When journalist Luke Fraser wants to showcase her charity, to Stevie it's the answer to all her prayers. But he arrives with his own personal baggage that threaten to derail Stevie's dream. I couldn't help cheering for this star-crossed couple. A great read.

Action and adventure in the form of rock climbing, abseiling, flying fox and kayaking is well handled and realistic as the characters go on a bush camping trip for a week to help teach resilience and build character for troubled teens. An emergency services rescue of a boy on a rock ledge adds tension and drama and I enjoyed the details. This is a sweet romance which takes a bit of a backseat to the work done by Stevie through her 'Reach for the Stars' programme. In the style of Undercover Boss, it's fun to watch Luke Fraser shed his city-boy expectations and inhibitions as he confronts his worst nightmare and finds new meaning in his own life while helping Stevie hold onto her dream.

Different & Fresh

Another lovely story from this writer about love and older couples. The hero Luke is a real fish-out-of-water guy but he rises to the challenge and proves he's got a lot more depth than he lets on. Heroine Stevie is totally committed to helping young people and giving them skills she hopes will help turn their lives around. Different, fresh and a nice suspenseful ending.
