We did some googling research, as you do, to see if other people were having the same problem and to find a remedy. It did seem to be a common problem, caused by the manufacturer not putting enough lubricant on the moving parts of the scroll wheel.
I could have sent it back to Amazon us, through Amazon au, but I live in Australia and this would be a 4 week round trip there and back with a replacement.
So this is what I did, I sprayed a small amount of silicone spray lubricant into the mouse scroll wheel on both sides. This managed to fix the problem and 4 weeks on it is working as good as new.
This is a great gaming mouse, but should not have these issues, so I have only given it 3 stars and shared my experience so that it might help others in this situation.
You have to run awful synapse crapware to stop the mouse from constantly changing colours, the most annoying setting possible. They could have easily picked a more sensible default setting, or allowed you to choose a colour setting without having the software running ALL THE TIME but they want their cancer on your computer all the time so they hobble the device. The software requires an account to run, and regularly nags you to update it, a process that is largely manual forcing you to constatly interact with this dreadful software you don't want in the first place.
The mouse is way too light, requiring me to blue tack $2 coins in strategic places to weigh it down a bit.
The side buttons are almost unusable because it tries to put 2 buttons where neither is comfortable, instead of one button that would be usable.
The plastic surrounding the sensor underneath is very sharp around the edges and is a perfect scoup for dust and paper particles which it traps near the sensor, causing your game to wildly swing around 180 degrees.
Overall, a horrible experience. I don't know why this company is as popular as they are, their product and software are garbage.
The buttons feel very tactile and of solid quality and the mouse feels very well built as a whole. The mouse feels quite well weighted and feels very accurate. Additionally, there is two buttons located just behind the scroll wheel which allows you to quickly change your DPI on the fly which I've personally found to be very useful. The RGB LEDs are quite bright and contrasting with the matte black finish makes this mouse look fantastic.
All of this of course, can be completely customised with Razer's easy to use Synapse 3 software (NOTE: requires the creation of a Razer account). There are numerous settings for the LEDs, including the ability to switch them off if you wish. These settings can sync across your devices that you plug the mouse into also, but separate profiles for devices are possible also.
Given the customisation requires software, there are sometimes compatibility issues, particularly with Linux. The Synapse software only supports Windows and Mac, meaning someone who dual-boots with Fedora like myself, can't customise the mouse using the software within Linux.
Overall this feels like a solid mouse, that is of very high quality that I can recommend tremendously if you use Windows or Mac. If you use Linux, I still recommend the mouse, but just be warned that the customisation will be very limited (unless there's some third party software you can use that I'm unaware of).
Time will tell if I continue using Razer products - the first mouse I had from them lasted 750k clicks (!!) and travelled literally kilometres on my desk. The replacement lasted 150k clicks and less than 2 k's on the desk, but for the same price (Naga Chroma MMO). The laser died, the number 3 button died and the mousewheel stopped clicking.
Hopefully this one last the same as the first!

Edit: Also, after a bit of use, I find myself accidentally hitting the DPI adjustment buttons more than is acceptable. They're right behind the scroll wheel, and very easy to push with the base of your middle finger when scrolling upward or just resting your hand on the mouse. Unexpectedly shifting DPI mid-movement will really throw you off.
Razer’s website has user-friendly software that you can download for free to customize any of the buttons on the mouse and adjust the increments for the DPI. I love this because the default DPI settings are either too sensitive or not enough, but with the software I was able to fine tune everything to my own liking. The optical sensors are great and thus far have not given me a single issue.
With the software I am also able to easily customize the colour scheme on the mouse, with various presets or solid colours to choose from.
I love that the left and right click buttons are curved to allow better control and faster clicking. The only downside to this mouse is that it is quite light at 105 g / 0.23 lbs.
- Curved left-right click buttons
- All buttons customizable
- DPI settings can be fine-tuned
- Easy to customize colour sceme
- Amazing optical sensors
- A little lightweight
- Thumb buttons aren’t as “grippy” as they could be
Design / Functionality - 9/10

This is not me and i MUCH prefer the shape of Logitech gaming mouses (logitech pro wireless/logitech g305). This is also a very BIG AND HEAVY mouse. In 2019 130g+ is way too big and slow for gaming. And this mouse can feel heavy compared to other mice when playing games (especially shooters). The two mouse buttons are also a little awkward to use with your thumb, but not terrible at all.
If you have large hands/specifically like the unique shape of this mouse then it may be the best one on the market as it performs well. But for the vast amount of other people I'd highly recommend something else.
