Cain is immortal and finds himself in a Gothic-style church in a seedy part of New Earth. Even worse Sasha (a hermaphrodite) has been feeding him a drug called godspit and has got him addicted to it. Then the red general makes an entrance and he faces her wrath.
To be honest I had no idea what this was about and who all these people were. It might be good if you have read the books in the Theta Waves series but to read this cold it made very little sense. The writing was good I was just confused with the story.
The Rapture of Cain: a Theta Waves novella by Thea Atkinson is just a piece of a bigger story. This is a middle piece. The author is good at catching the reader up but still is leaves the reader hanging in the end obviously. It is dark and suspense-filled but good fantasy. There is just not enough to it, if the reader hasn't read the other parts, to enjoy the story enough. I think reading the Theta Wave whole novel would be a better option and one I plan on doing. It did peak my interest enough to do that.
