  • THE ORIGINAL – There’s a reason you see this trap everywhere: it’s the original, and it works! There are roughly a dozen species of stinging yellow jackets throughout North America, and this trap is designed to lure them all.
  • HIGHLY EFFECTIVE – Lured in by our specially formulated attractant, yellowjackets fly in through the holes in the bottom of the trap, continue upward through the interior cone, and become trapped. Once inside, they die from dehydration—no killing agent required.
  • NON-TOXIC – Unlike potentially harmful sprays, this trap relies on a non-toxic mode of action to eliminate yellowjackets. Its durable plastic construction is built to withstand many seasons of use. Attractant refills are available.
  • SMARTER PEST CONTROL – Our Reusable Yellowjacket Trap is specially designed to attract and kill yellowjackets, not beneficial honeybees. The included attractant lasts for weeks without daily maintenance.
  • MADE IN THE USA – At RESCUE!, our goal is to design, manufacture, and market the safest and most effective pest control solutions available for homeowners. We are proud to manufacture our products in the USA!

Product description

Size Name:2 Pack + 2x 4-Week Refills

What It Catches

Roughly a dozen species of yellowjackets throughout North America that are known to bite and sting people. The RESCUE! Reusable Yellowjacket Trap is designed to lure them all.

Unique Features & Benefits

Catches multiple species of yellowjackets. Double-chambered design prevents yellowjackets from escaping. Attractant lasts for weeks without daily maintenance.

Won't trap beneficial honeybees!

Durable plastic holds up in sunlight for seasons of use.

Used and recommended by the United States Department of Agriculture as well as major U.S. zoos, parks, campgrounds, resorts and school districts.

Clear plastic tube allows you to see the yellowjacket "body count".

Where it's used

When possible, the RESCUE! Reusable Yellowjacket Trap should be hung in a natural setting like a tree, or around the perimeter of an area where the insects have been observed entering. Hang the traps at least 20 feet away from outdoor activity areas like your patio, deck, campsite or picnic area - and at least 20 feet away from any known yellowjacket nests.

When it's used

Use the RESCUE! Yellowjacket Trap in the spring when queen yellowjackets emerge from hibernation, and in the summer and fall when worker yellowjackets are foraging for food.

3.0 out of 5 stars My hack for this trap that makes it work 5x better!

What I don't like:
*Sometimes the attractant works OK, sometimes not.
*It's hard to pop open the little tabs to empty the trap, seems like that could be better designed.
Here's my hack that makes this trap work GREAT:
*Instead of the attractant (or in addition to), I pul a small amount (tablespoon) of cooked chicken into the food holder. The more aromatic the better. My Yellowjackets prefer BBQ chicken. ;) Break it up into pieces so there are more surface areas to emit a fragrance. We're now catching 4 to 5X as many yellow jackets as we were before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Immediately attracted them, trapped dozens in half a day.

Uh, so wow... a couple of things. First, I am amazed by how quickly this worked. Kinda terrified that I spilled some of the attractant on myself, and they REALLY go for that attractant. I'll use gloves next time. Second, they immediately swarmed the trap and started figuring out how to get in within about a half of an hour. From there it was all downhill for the local yellow jackets.

I was worried that this might attract even more yellow jackets to my yard, but it seems to have cut down on the net number of free-range yellow jackets hereabouts. I almost feel bad for them, but I gave them two weeks to figure out that the bird bath wasn't getting refilled and they couldn't get into the hummingbird feeder, and those jerks just kept coming. I tried, yellow jackets. I tried.

Serious bonus points: my yard is full of other hymenopteran pollinators, but this trap is attracting only yellow jackets. My solitary bee and honeybee and friendly wasp friends are safe, and honestly probably relieved to be dealing with fewer yellow jackets.

Update: It just kept attracting yellow jackets at the same capture rate. Eventually they stopped coming to it, but mainly because there are very few yellow jackets left in my yard. AMAZING. Now I just have to figure out if I want to clean out those hundred or so wasp carcasses or just trash it and buy a new one. Gross.
