Product Description

Long ago, the Cult of Humanity sacrificed the Dragon Queen, crippling the breeding process. But now Carolyn hears the voice of that long dead queen telling her that she holds the key to breaking the spell that will free all the female dragons.

FBI dragon Reed's disdain for humans can't mask the magnetic attraction he has for Carolyn, but when she tells him she's going to shift into a dragon he thinks she's crazy. A female hasn't been hatched, or shape shifted, in over a thousand years.

He's proven wrong after Carolyn shifts and is named the new Queen on the block. A never-ending line of suitors forms, but she only wants Reed. Too bad he doesn't want in on the competition. But when the Cult kidnaps Carolyn to sacrifice her in an effort to make the curse against the female dragons permanent, Reed must face his fears—and feelings, racing to save the woman he realizes he can't live without.

The Emerging Queens series is best enjoyed in order.

When I first read the synopsis for this book I wasn't too sure it would be a good read
After the first chapter I was hooked, loved the heroine and the idea of her situation, trying to convince other people, , dragons and family she was an emerging Dragon.
I sincerely recommend this book to others.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Queen is born 5 June 2014

3.5 *'s

Carolyn was sure that she was turning into a dragon shifter. It didn't matter that no one else believed her or that she was ridiculed for being so insistent with the dragon embassy. There were just too many strange things happening to her to discount. When the embassy is attacked and is forced to protect herself she is shocked at the things her body can now do. There she meets dragon FBI Reed. He refuses to admit that she may be becoming a queen dragon. In fact he believes she is crazy. After all a female dragon hasn't hatched or shape-shifted in over a thousand years.

When Carolyn is finally able to prove that something is indeed going on with her things get dicey. They discover that Reed's own sister was killed to fuel a spell that prevented queen eggs from being hatched.

Carolyn had some funny dialogue in this book. If she thought it she said it. For the most part it was entertaining. Her and Reed's relationship was strange from the onset. Did he really like her or was he protecting her simply because he had been ordered to? Honestly I was confused about his motives for most of the book. He was rude and mean one minute and then meltingly sweet the next.

While I enjoyed the storyline and it did have some funny parts in it I was disappointed. It seemed like the author could have pushed the envelope some more and made it a great story instead of just a good one. The ending satisfied me in as much as I got the answers I wanted since the beginning but it also left me craving more. (sigh)

5.0 out of 5 stars A hot and deep paranormal fantasy 11 July 2014

I loved this book! If you're bummed this is the final season for "True Blood," then this book will help ease your pain.

Carolyn is a great character to follow during her rite of passage. She's spunky, snarky and fun. I loved learning about dragon society. When I found out more about the meaning behind the title, at one point, I cried. The sex in the book is hot, but isn't gratuitous because .... (spoilers ahead)
.
.
the role of the queens in dragon society is less about politics and more about procreation. I never thought about dragons, who I see as reptilian, forming societies more like insects. Perhaps you've noticed, in reading between the lines of this review, I found this a very well-developed world showing how societal roles impact the lives of individuals. I realize that's kinda deep, although if you're "only" looking for a hot, sexy paranormal romp to read - not that there's anything wrong with that ;) - you can easily enjoy TQW at that level, too. :)

Anyway, I highly recommend this book to fans of paranormal tales, especially if you like 'em spicy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Funny likable heroine 25 September 2015

This book made me smile frequently. The plotr is simple. A youngish human woman dreams of turning into a dragon in a world where dragons exist but are rare .and only five female dragons exist in the entire world. but hardly anyone believes her until she And the ending was really funny. The writing is wry and a little quirky. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
5.0 out of 5 stars The Dragon's Romance 31 May 2014
By Rosemary - Published on Amazon.com

Carolyn knows that she's going to shift into a dragon. Why won't anyone believe her. They think she is deluded and needs therapy. During an attack on the Dragon Embassy Carolyn shows signs of emerging to her full potential. Now she has FBI dragon Reed and his partner Jack as her guards. Things are getting complicated very fast. She is constantly in danger. Why is she possessed by Arianna, a dead queen. The Queen's Wing is a wild ride of passion, danger and intrigue. I loved this story! Carolyn is a feisty heroine. She stands her ground against her enemies. Reed is a determined dragon who vows to protect what is his. What a fiery romance! The secondary characters are an intriguing bunch. I want to know more about them. The plot has many unexpected twists and turns that I was hooked from page one. Jamie K. Schmidt supplies such humorous dialogue that I was snickering as I read this story. She is a new to me author but I plan to change that. This book is a keeper!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great read 29 May 2014

Finished in a day and a half. Fun, snarky heroine and a hero that is completely clueless as to how to deal with humans. This is well written with some twists I didn't see coming. I enjoyed the characters (a must for me to enjoy a book) and the story line flowed at a great pace. I am definitely looking forward to the next in the series THE QUEEN'S FLIGHT
