The style of the novella is reminiscent of P G Woodhouse at his best, without the digressions into irrelevant byways in pursuit of more contrived humour.
Iggulden doesn't quite match the Master's consistency, but the humour is less patronising and the plot rattles along rather than getting bogged down in Woodhouse's tendency to over-indulge himself.
A great story which moves along at a tidy pace - and written in a way which will keep you smiling, and even elicit an occasional chuckle.

Made me chuckle - Loved it.

I loved this book.
Yes, it is only a quick read, and the plot is really quite ridiculous; but for me that only added to it's charm and quirkiness. Albert Rossi, is a character that most middle-aged men can identify with, and his misadventures made me laugh out loud. For some reason I kept imagining him as the dapper David Niven.
I love Mr Iggulden's work, he is my favourite author; and although I have enjoyed reading all of his historical novels, this little gem was a welcome change to my usual choice of read.
More please sir!

I thought this was going to be funnier than what it is...
The book is not very well written and the humour and plot is very predictable; short stories work best when they are sharply written and end with a twist / surprise - this book has neither. I could imagine this being written by a good English pupil asked to write a spy spoof for their homework.
Having said all of that, it is only £1.99 and is short enough to be worth a read but don't have your expectations too high - no laugh out loud moments just a few wry smiles.
Hope this helps...

Mr Bean becomes Mr Bond.

Having only read Conn's Historical novels,I was completely caught unawares by his mischievious and delicious way of finding outrage in the most mundane of circumstances. Our hero is at best a "Lame uncle that nobody want's to dance with,or even talk to at "Our Sandra's Wedding." Yet he rises to heroic levels, withstanding the best efforts of the police, his own timid nature and bullying teenage girls. What's not to love?

Sharp and funny. A light-hearted tale of an unintentional assassin!
Well worth a read .. took me at least partway through a sleepless night.
