Ugly duckling Dawn Turner doesn’t do relationships. She has her reasons and they’re good ones. But she can’t resist the magic in Finbar Sullivan’s touch, so she negotiates the next best thing with him. Scorchingly perfect, utterly casual sex.
World class musician Finnbar Sullivan always pushes the limits to get what he wants, and he wants Dawn. All of her. Love, commitment and a future together. So he reneges on the deal and composes a new one.
So what’s stopping her? And will Finn’s latest offer be enough to change Dawn’s mind?

About the author

I started writing in 2007, with a Harlequin/Mills and Boon story called Wife For A Week. I liked it, readers liked it, and it's still my mother's favorite. With each new book I try to get my mother to change her mind. Awards? I have them (for other books). USA Today Bestseller status? I have that too (for other books). Romance Writers of America® RITA® Finalist? Yep (with other books).
At this point I'm pretty sure my mother is happily messing with *my* mind, but I promise you this--with every book I write I try to make it her new favorite story. Quality control!

Dawn is the Ugly Duckling of the group of four girls who are the heart of this series. She's always known it so the one time, when she was 17 and Finn Sullivan (brother of her friend Faith) made her feel beautiful, it stayed with her. Unfortunately so did the aftermath.
Ten years on and all the girls are back in NY so of course they meet at Faith's family's pub. (bar, hotel, whatever) And Finn is there. He's now a world famous classical musician (think Andre Reiu but younger hotter and IRISH). Dawn is the head of a genetic research company she founded so not too shabby either.
This reunion is fraught with emotion. Neither has forgotten the other but Dawn has very good reasons for holding back. *sniff*. This is a seriously good read for a novella length and I'm looking forward to the other ones in the series.
After ten years apart, Dawn gets together with her old class mates. She keeps the possibility of having Huntington’s disease a secret from them. She also has another secret that she has kept from everyone since she was seventeen.
Finbar Sullivan has always been attracted to Dawn. Now that she is back in his sisters life, he doesn't want to her go.
Finn agrees with Dawn’s plan of seeing each other for sex only. But his feelings run much deeper than that. Dawn also has strong feelings for Finn, but she refuses to let him know.
Will Finn be able to convince Dawn that their relationship is strong and can survive anything?
This is a wonderful story about learning to let go of your fears and just go with the flow. You never know where it might lead you.
Bits of this book really tug at your heartstrings. Finn is a violinist and composer and when he lets his violin do the talking it's incredibly moving. Both Finn and Dawn are characters I identified with and cared about and cheered on.
I found this book incredibly moving. KellyHunter has done it again. Recommended!
I loved this story. I cried at the end. The emotional struggles Dawn was going through to try to spare others pain by suffering alone were just heartbreaking. The other characters were great as well. Dawn's friends were an interesting group.
I highly recommend this story. It's emotional and hot all wrapped up together.

It made me an insta-fan of Kelly Hunter! After reading, I immediately tracked down her other books.
Adding to to my favorites & re-readers shelf because:
Dawn is a smart, driven, yet vulnerable scientist/ceo.
Finn is an intense, passionate, and sensitive musician.
An encounter from their youth is picked up years later and although they both have matured and gain experience - their connection is just as strong and passionate as they both remembered. Dawn has issues from her childhood that manifest in her refusing to form lasting relationships. Finn loved Dawn as a teen when she was unsure of herself and awkward, and when they reconnect he refuses to let her go.
Romance stories that just focus on a couple, their stories, their personalities, their interactions, without any outside villains or drama, are rare - and this is a great one!
