She gave me her kidney. I gave her my heart...

Nicholas Blake learned a long time ago that nobody does anything for free. He’s felt the pain of lies and manipulations enough times to know that people only look out for themselves, and that all good deeds come with a price. So when he wakes up from a near deadly car accident and finds out a stranger is offering to donate her kidney, he’s immediately suspicious of her intentions.

What he doesn’t expect is Iris Chamberlain, a beautiful woman with a big smile and an even bigger heart, claiming she just wants to help. The more time Nick spends with Iris, the more he starts to believe in what he always thought was impossible: a pure heart.

But betrayal leaves a bitter mark. Will Nick be able to let go of his past and let Iris in? And will Iris be able to show him what it truly means to have a pure heart?

I only discovered Jeannine's books a few months ago. After reading 3 of her books in super quick succession and giving them 5 stars; I was seriously excited about this release!

There's this girl. She's amazing. She is all that is good in the world. She refuses to allow negativity into her life. And there are always second chances.

Then there's this boy. He's a complete cynic. He thinks everything is black and white - no grey and no colour. He thinks everyone is a liar. And once you've proved him right, he doesn't chase you.

This girl meets this boy.

Colour and Grey meets Black and White.

Attraction meets attraction and fireworks meets fireworks.

You see, there's no set rule on how chemistry works between 2 people. Hate and Love are that very fine line people can walk. And Nick and Iris walk that line right from the beginning....

I'm not going to lie.... I struggled with Iris in the beginning - because my personality leans a little bit more to Nick. So Iris initially irritated the crap out of me - LOL. But the further in I got and the deeper the story line became, I loved her.

And well needless to say..... Jeannine has written yet another beautiful male lead, in Nick. She has captured his angst and vulnerability so well and your heart bleeds for him.

Definitely another book of Jeannine's you need to add to your TBR peeps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical love story! <3 22 June 2017

This was such a refreshing take on a romance novel. This couple doesn't meet under any kind of normal circumstances. Nick is in a car accident and while in the hospital, his mom finds out that he needs a kidney transplant. Iris is on the way to the hospital to see her sister and newborn niece. When the two women collide, their lives entangle. After saying a quick prayer with a woman in despair, Iris decides she is going to donate her kidney. One would think that the recipient would be thankful but Nick is skeptical. It was a journey for these two - One person who sees the good in everything and the other who sees the worst of humanity. I thought the story was well thought out and there was real time given to nurturing their unlikely friendship so that it was believable. It's an emotional story to be sure, I was already tearing up in the first couple of chapters. I love when books surprise me like that. There are twists and turns thrown in there along with a lot of chemistry and sweetness. On a side note, I work in a dialysis center and that is what drew me to this story in the first place and I'm so thankful because I really enjoyed this book. And PLEASE consider being an organ donor. There are so many people that are waiting every day to get the call that there is a kidney waiting for them and it can change people's lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and life affirming story! Allison's best work yet! 22 June 2017

Sometimes a book comes into your life at the right moment or when you least expect it. Pure Hearts is that book for me. It literally took me by surprise and knocked me off my feet. The premise of the story is so real and relatable. Chance meetings, organ donation, the considerations going through a persons mind. It's not an easy choice.
For Iris is not even a choice but Iris is not like everyone. She's a woman who believes and sees the good in people. If you give, you or the next person receive in return. Nothing is black and white in her world. She's just a very positive and giving person without any expectations.
Nick is a skeptic man who doesn't trust easily which goes back to his childhood. When Iris gives Nick one of her kidneys he automatically thinks it comes with a price. Boy, is he in for a surprise. His whole world and personality changes and he reawakens thanks to Iris.

Their relationship takes time because of Nick's skepticism but Iris is determined to show him her truth. That she did it because she wanted to. Her own choice. I loved how their relationship grew and evolved into something so much more and beautiful. It felt natural, organic and never rushed. I fell in love right along with them.
I loved Iris and Nick. Well, I loved every character in Pure Hearts. Nick's mother Catherine holds a special place in my heart. She shaped her son, pushed and supported him when needed but also kept an open heart and mind for others.

Jeannine Allison managed to make me feel connected to the main and secondary characters during the prologue alone. That's mainly because of the way she constructed the story from start to finish. Her characters have so much personality and substance. Never boring or too predictable in their interactions or reactions. They slowly flourish as the story progresses.

I've read all of her books and Jeannine Allison gets better with every book she writes. So does her flawless and honest prose which kept me enthused throughout the story.
Pure Hearts has heart, intention but most of all a story to tell. A story I'm grateful I got to experience.

Pure Hearts was such an great story, scattered with important life lessons.

Life hasn't given Nick a lot of reasons to trust people. Iris' life hadn't been easy, but she chooses to see the good in people instead of focusing on the negatives. All she wants to do is make a difference in the world, so when she volunteers to donate one of her kidneys to save Nick's life, Nick is immediately suspicious. But as they get to know each other, Nick realizes that she doesn't have an ulterior motive, she just sees life in bright colors while he sees life in black and white.

One of my favorite quotes in this story:

"Don't use your tragedies as a lens to see by; use them more like a rearview mirror. Just a reminder of what's behind you."

I loved reading about their journey, watching Nick slowly learn to trust and finally opening up to Iris. It wasn't an easy road for them, but they jumped through hurdles to patch up their relationship and won the race. This is my first book by Jeannine. I'm really looking forward to read her other books.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt so alive after finishing a book. Pure Heart is redemption. This story is beating in my heart. My soul, my whole existence is so full of this beautiful, raw and emotional story.

This book means the life itself to me right now. I don’t even know what should I say about it. This is the kind of book you have to read and live through, because it will make you a better person. You have to get your heart ready, because it will be conquered in no time. And believe me, you want this kind of joy in your life. Because this book is pure joy, pure emotion.

I loved Nick so much, but Iris is my absolute soul mate! This girl! And how much I love her!
And Catherine! I’m totally fangirling over her, and I’m totally proud of it!

This book is perfection. I have nothing to say. Hurry up and read it as soon as it’s released! You don’t want to miss it out
