Product Description

From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Douglas, comes the latest New Adult romance with a bit of everything...friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, and a somewhat interesting use of public places.

Misha

I can't help but smile at the lyrics in her letter. She misses me.

In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.

It didn't take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever...

And that was the start. For the next seven years, it was us.

Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there's one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She's the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.

We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it?

Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name's Ryen, loves Gallo's pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances?

F*ck it. I need to meet her.

I just don't expect to hate what I find.

Ryen

He hasn't written in three months. Something's wrong. Did he die? Get arrested? Knowing Misha, neither would be a stretch.

Without him around, I'm going crazy. I need to know someone is listening. It's my own fault. I should've gotten his phone number or picture or something.

He could be gone forever.

Or right under my nose, and I wouldn't even know it.

*Punk 57 is a stand alone New Adult romance. It is suitable for ages 18+.

I went into this book blind. Purchasing it after a recommendation from a friend. Bloody hell am I glad I did. One of the most interesting books I have read this year. No cookie cutter nice girl/guy story here. Everyone is flawed and the story is so much better because of it. Plenty of laughs, tears, angst and raw emotion. Some people might not like Ryen but I feel she was the truest reflection of a teenager that I have seen in a long time. Damaged but still so beautiful. I adored Misha and the chemistry between the two was spectacular 🔥🔥 Their backstory was adorable and believable. Definitely not your average love story, soooo much more. Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a story that makes you think.

So this is only my second book I have read by Penelope Douglas and I can say that I really did enjoy this book to a certain extent. I thought it was well written and I loved the premises of the story line which was strong and enjoyable but for some reason it dragged in places at times which made the reading slow for me. I did want to find out what was going to happen but I was in no rush if you know what I mean.

The characters were likable and strong and their connection was good - I really liked Misha from the off but Ryen took a little more warming up to. With strong secondary characters, some of which we were introduced to in Corrupt by this author, they all made for good reading time.

The blurb really sells this story so I don't think I need to go into this very much - but what I will say there was a really unexpected twist near the end, which I for one did not see coming at all - nope totally blinded, would never have guessed it, so that ramped it up for me.
What I would of like to have seen was that twist maybe explored more and bought out into the story line, but because it was so close to the end it was impossible for that to happen; in my opinion if it could have been - it would have added to the quality of the story for me - only my opinion.

A good all rounder that I would recommend - liked but not loved !!!

Being Pen Pals since they were children, Misha and Ryen have come to know so much about each other. Including their secret desires and true selves. Even though they only live a town away from one another, the two of them chose not to meet in fear of messing with what they have — which is something pretty special to them both.

So what happens when a new guy shows up at Ryen's school at the end of their senior year? What's his deal and who is he? I think you know where I might be going with this.
There were many elements to this story that I loved. One of them being the main characters differences. Misha Lare is a lead singer of a band, a tortured soul, and the sexy outcast.
Ryen Trevarrow is popular, a cheerleader, mean girl extraordinaire and full of insecurities that got her there in the first place. You may not like Ryen, especially at first. But you'll likely find you can relate in some way. I actually grew to really like her character.

“We’re all ugly, Ryen. The only difference is, some hide it and some wear it.”

I love the push and pull that Penelope Douglas creates with her characters. The hate and lust make for some gripping reading. My angst addiction just eats it up. In my opinion, Punk 57 kind of reads like a lighter version of Corrupt and Bully. But is in no way PG rated. It's full of some very steamy scenes.

The book does take place in the same world as Corrupt and we get a few visits from some of those characters (YAY). However, it reads perfectly as a standalone. This book is filled with important messages, the strongest being in regard to bullying, peer pressure, having the courage to stand up for what you believe in and just be yourself.

WOW !!! Just finished an all nighter as I loved this so hard!
YES, that's right, I thought I would read a couple of chapters late last night and here I am at 7am on a work day after staying up all night because this absolutely amazing story had my undivided attention from the first pages.
This story was like no other that I have read and I just could not stop until I finally turned the last page and discovered all the secrets that were so wonderfully interwoven in this unique story.
Misha & Ryen's story will reach you on so many levels that I can not truely convey just how incredible this story is.
Don't read the reviews, one click and read the book, just start it on a weekend or day off work.
This was my 1st P Douglas book and definitely won't be the last that I will read from this very talented Author.

This story was very well done. The characters were flawed, intriguing and believable. The chemistry was sizzling and the tension between the characters was gripping. The threads of plot (which was full of surprises) weaved together beautifully. I really liked that this was a standalone story which kept the pace of the story moving forward without any unnecessary or boring scenes. I'm always appreciative of a cover that is not an impossible male torso and as a romance fan I like a HEA.

A must read for young adult romance fans.
