4.0 out of 5 stars Fun read. 1 April 2017

Protector is a YA, contemporary fantasy featuring Faith, a teen who has captured the eye of a clairvoyant king from another world. He’s sent protectors to watch over her until she comes into the powers he’s predicted. Meanwhile, Faith is on the fence. She hardly believes what her new friend Belle is telling her, despite the fact that she’s able to communicate with her telepathically. And then the Prince shows up, and she can no longer ignore the truth.

This was a fun read. Faith is likable, feisty, and no nonsense. Despite being caught up in a bond she neither understands nor can escape, she’s not one to give in to the demands of others. She does what she feels is right and fights for her family. There is insta-love, sort of, from the mated bonding, but again, Faith isn’t a pansy. I enjoyed how she stands up to Davio.

As for the magic system, well, it’s intriguing, but occasionally it seems awfully convenient. For example, it’s rather easy for those who can port to jump over to another world, and it also seemed way too easy to learn.

The description of the book states each of these are standalone, but after reading Protector, I feel like there should be more. I want to keep following Faith’s story, but it seems each of the other books will focus on one of the other girls introduced in this one. Also, Faith isn’t a Protector, so why is the book named Protector?

Overall, I liked the story. Though it did have insta-love, some overly convenient plot points, and some repetitiveness, I think folks who enjoy modern YA fantasy would enjoy this one.

I picked this book up while it was on a free promotion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story 4 January 2017

It was a little challenging to get used to :planets, characters, and whos the bad guy and stuff but once you get everything set you get a pretty good story and entertaining. I love how Faith was strong and not easily persuade. She stuck to her guns and put family first which was hard given she had found her soulmate. its a Romeo/Juliet forbidden love, except her side of parents are willing compromise as well as she and her mate prince Davio. My favorite part of this book is when Faith decides she wont let noboyd use her against her father....even her mate. So she decided standing up to him and his an explosive detail fight, where she almost ...don't want to ruin it!! so worth it!..and looking forward for the next books coming up.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful first book in the series. 24 April 2017

Faith Stryker lived just a normal earthling’s life, never knowing she was in fact a princess from another world. Witnessing her grow into her unique skills and talents was a treat, especially when those abilities lead her to Davio Loveria. Unfortunately, he is a prince of the country Faith’s own country is at war with.
I love the detailed descriptions of the characters and the world Wadsworth created in this story. The Romeo and Juliet aspect of the story never gets old in my opinion. The writing was superior and overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve read the entire series and would recommend it to anyone who reads sweet love stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent YA fantasy romance 23 October 2016

Looking for something new to immerse yourself in? This is an excellent YA fantasy romance. The first in series. Very sweet read, angst ridden and emotional. Soul bonded mates whose people's are at war. Faith and Davio are conflicted with what is right for themselves, their families and their feuding nations. I like where the story is leading and how it moves along at a steady pace. Worth following!

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth sticking with... 13 March 2017

This book was rather slow-moving, and really didn't pick up until the last 25% or so. Up until Faith started developing her powers, the story dragged along. However, once she started becoming the strong character she needed to be, the rest of the book moved along at a decent pace. I was disappointed to find out that this book ended with the relationship between Faith and Davio so undecided and incomplete, as the rest of the books in the series are about other characters. Still, I thought the plot and story presented were original and interesting enough to explore. If I didn't have a to-be-read list a mile long, I might actually try the other books in the series, but for now, I am content with just reading this one.
