My hair is very long, (between my bra strap and waist band) and EXTREMELY thick! Something (I’m guessing hormonal or medications) changed the texture of my hair causing it to basically feel like pubic hair. Always frizzy no matter how much time I wasted with a flat iron and round brush.
This stuff made my hair look and feel like pocahontas hair. ITS AMAZING
Yes it has a strong smell, but not chemically at all. However it does make your eyes water when the heat hits the product. But nothing more than a perm would and certainly not as much as the salon straighteners.
People are saying the bottles are too small. We had product left over. And I promise you. None of you have more hair than me. It’s probably 3feet long and as thick as a horses tail.
3 months and my hair still dries fairly straight and is still in waaaay better shape, even after bleaching platinum blonde twice. I could keep going with the original one but since the effects are accumulative, I've decided to now do it again. Bought the 5X the amount size. I'm going to use this stuff as long as it's made. Gamechanger!! :)
If this changes, or the product doesn't last long, I will update my review. But as of now, WOW. I have shoulder length hair (in theory.... tons of it is broken to 2 inches or so because it is so damaged) that is frizzy due to the cuticle being stripped (platinum blonde) but even more so due to nutrient deficiencies/digestive disorders. So my hair is in bad shape. It's also wavy/curly but never equally so on both sides and it looks bad because of the breakage anyway... so I would never wear my hair just straight up down but also not straightened. EVER.
So that's my hair.
This stuff made my hair feel sooooo soft and smooth. WITHOUT having to add a bunch of serums, creams, protectors that are super expensive by the top hair brands just to make my hair feel like hair. My hair felt good... naked. That's insanely awesome. It was also straight. Almost too straight in a few spots..lol. Like, straight as a board when I would normally curl the bottom in. But that's because my hair is shorter. ANyway, it takes a few minutes to do my hair now.... not ages. And if it gets kinked, I just wet it and re-blow dry. Make sure you blow dry it (it's much quicker that it was before, trust me- every one has said this.) rather than air dry or it won't be as straight.
Now, if you look on amazon.com, there are a lot more reviews and the rating isn't great. It seems to be because of the smell and the burning eyes..... Now, I will admit... I am a tough, tough cookie and so I thought they were all just lame, but it did bother my eyes a bit and I am wearing contacts (for those of you who have never worn, contacts make it so onions don't bother you, for your frame of reference...). Now, I did have a fan blowing at me and also the overhead fan on, but to be fair, my bathroom is small. I probably over saturated a bit too which it says not to do but I wanted to make sure there was enough. As for irritants.. it is formaldehyde free, so i am assuming as bad as it was, normally they are worse. No pain, no gain, right? I mean, we are doing this to make our hair feel much better and to save future styling time and damage. For the greater good. A big plus for me was, that although it had wheat protein in it (remember I said digestive disorders? Well, one is I'm a celiac.), since I could wash it out right away after I was done the steps instead of waiting 3 days like normal, it meant I could actually try this when I have never been able to. I did get a typical gluten rash on my head from this, but 3 days with another brand would have been impossible. I took the hit.
On to time and difficulty...
Ok, so drying one's hair that is filled with weird goop on "cold"........ until it's (as they so clearly stated..) "completely" dry is no easy or quick task. But, apparently it was possible. Just takes around 30 minutes.
Then you have to section the hair off again and straighten it all. Every little piece. And don't make the pieces to big because you won't get at a good enough angle and won't get close enough to the root... remember, this is your permanent hairstyle basically for a while. You go over the top half 8-10 times each, and the bottom 4-6. Honestly, except for the longer pieces, my hair was short enough I just did 10 on each. I thought this would kill my hair but it actually felt pretty good after. So weird. Anyway, this took quite a while.. partially because I have OCD and wanted it to be perfect, but in the end, when I was done, I hoped it the shower, did the conditioner treatment, and blow dried it. It dried fast and was straight! And so soft and so smooth!. I was in awe. I kept telling my husband to touch it lol. I needed something easier because I have a newborn and don't have tht time to do my hair all the time but it looks awful if I don't. So yay! I bought some sulphite free shampoo and conditioner, as instructed, to preserve the Keratin bonds. So fingers crossed this lasts. If it doesn't, I will update but as of now, 4 days in, I am so so happy.
***update: it's been well over a month and I'm still happy. The back of my hair has a slight wave to it but that's because I put a hair elastic and hair clamp in it every day so it's kind of kinked that way. It only takes a second to fix if I want to, which are usually don't bother. In any event it's still so much faster to style than it was before and feels 1 million times better. I just got my hair bleached platinum blonde which would normally fry it but it still feels good and is still mostly straight. I'm buying more for a friend.
