It gives referance to clinical studies that have been done on various plants/herbs and also the clinically percieved validity of each of the studies by professionals and institutes etc, so that you can consider how much weight to give the results/conclusions of the studies. There is then referance to each study mentioned so you can look them up independantly if any are of interest to you.
For various subject areas of health and/or herbs etc, there are patient case studies which detail both prescriptions and a follow up summary of how the patient reacted to the prescribed treatment.
Of the things both health conditions, bodily processes, and herbs that I have looked up, the majority of them are covered in here, though to varying depth, some briefly touched on, others comprehensively written about and in a well balanced way, which is incredibly helpful. I have a few herbal medicine books (not specialist just layperson/general off the shelf) and none of them come remotely close to this for things covered and depth of info on research and studies.
I have no completed education or experience in Phytotherapy-though I do intend to study it- but have found the information and language used throughout this book, well written in so far as not beyond me. I think both layperons' like myself and professional/practitioners would find it a great resource for a number of reasons.
My review is based on just looking up several things and attempts at cross referencing what I found, so is not comprehensive in so far as the book as a whole. However, so far, I do think the amount paid is worth it as clearly a LOT of skill, experience, work and research has gone into this book which covers a lot of ground. Based on the quality of content in this book (i.e. the comprehensive amount of information as I have no idea as to the quality of information though as it is all referanced I have no doubt it is sourced from respected sources of data), I intend to look up the authors and see what other books they have published in the area of herbal medicine and will purchase them as first choice if looking for books in the areas they have published, as this is a gem.
Highly recommend.
