Thankfully, I've not yet needed the extras for any kind of emergency. But, if I do, they've already proven their ability to redirect thermal heat.
The bad... The reflective coating rubs off with cleaning and/or light abbrassion (like a wet cloth) leaving just clear Mylar which is absolutely useless.
Fortunately the reflective coating is only on one side so make sure whatever you are using them on, the side that can be stripped in not the side you will be cleaning often. Fortunately this stuff is so cheap it's not a big deal but still a pain in the butt because you will have to replace it often.
I stapled these to my grow room walls and really start disliking them right away, the material is so thin it will easily tear when there is a hole made like from staples. To over come this, simply put a piece of tape (clear, duct or whatever you have) and then punch a staple through.... problem solved, basically tear resistant where stapled.
Any tape sticks VERY WELL to these also, so taping them to tarps ( 2 of my walls) was no issue.
In -7° celcius weather I can keep my area between 21-25° degrees no problem with these reflective sheets & an oil heater set on low with a fan blowing the ceiling air down over the oil heater. Every sheet I hung I seen the temperature climb instantly 3-5° degree celcius.
I will purchase more if needed!
Emergency blankets are a one time use Mylar blanket that uses your own body heat to keep you warm. They have variety of different uses such as shelter and signalling (for those who hike/camp back woods).
I personally have these in my first aid kit in my car (5 in total) incase I come up on an accident. I have another few in a small survival kit in my car (live in Canada, times where you’ll be quite a distance from a population). I also carry 2-3 with me hiking incase of emergency. Since they weigh next to nothing it’s an easy justification to carry them with me.
I would highly recommend everyone keeps a few of these on them in the outdoors and even in their car.
