Even though this is the third book in the series, there is enough background that it can easily be a stand-alone. The story of a wealthy recluse who had a dream foretelling her own death was so fascinating that I kept reading when I should have been doing other things. There were enough interesting aspects (like the tontine, art thefts, forgeries, suspicious identities, a past death, etc.) that it kept me turning pages like crazy.
The characters in the book are very well developed. Some of my favorite supporting characters are Noah, Andre, Gideon, Sara, Sam and the Harper sisters. I like how the older sisters are able to contribute because of their advanced knowledge of Savanna's past and their knack for knowing most of what goes on around town (now and in the past), without seeming like gossips. And, of course, I am truly rooting for Taylor and Noah.
Bottom line...I highly recommend this book (and series) to anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries and is looking for a fresh concept. I certainly hope there will be another book in this series.
Taylor and her sister Ali are invited to Beaux Reves by Abigail Marchand. Abigail was an elderly, reclusive heiress and owner of this fabulous and equally famous mansion. Rose and Minerva Harper were present and had known Abigail for many years. They were seated outside on the patio when Abigail began relating a dream she had of her own death.
Unfortunately, that dream turned out to be a premonition come true. Shortly thereafter Abigail was found lying at the bottom of her stairs dead. Taylor and Ali find themselves in the midst of murder investigation and the suspects are more than just a few.
I enjoyed this book and have all 3 in this series to date. The beginning didn't seem that interesting but as I continued reading the characters I had become accustomed to interacted and drew me into the fact finding search for clues.
Highly recommended as a true cozy.
When a wealthy woman has a preminition of her death, through a dream, Taylor, Ali and the Harper sisters believe it's not a foretelling of death, but they are wrong. Now, they have to find the killer before they are the next victims!
It's always interesting to read about dream interpretation and the descriptions of Savannah and the eccentric characters who live in the city, are beautiful and entertaining. The delicious candies, pastries and coffees/teas described in the book can make you hungry...keep a pastry & tea (iced or hot) and you'll feel like you're in the sisters store, "Oldies but Goodies".
I'm looking forward to the next book!
It was as enjoyable or moreso than previous dream club books. I love them!!
