Squeaky clean romance

A light hearted sweet romance where the similarities to Jane Austen end at the title. Emma’s (heroine) prideful behaviour was confusing especially the inconsistency - directed towards kevin(hero) only. Not far into the story it is explained tho. I’ve read good reviews about the authors other books which I’m looking forward to reading. Give this one a go if your after a sweet romance and that all important happily ever after.

I could not get past the first few chapters . Between a foolish, proud and obstinate heroine, an unlikely premise and a bad tempered hero - forget it! Unlike Elizabeth Bennett, who is a basically wise thougn forthright character, this heroine is just plain proud!

Are you tired of characters that are sociopathic but presented as romantic? Abusive but presented as protective? I could go on, but you get the point. This work was a wonderful oasis in the desert. The characters were just right, with people that could be real, with backstories that are relatable— even down to their jobs. Neither main characters left you feeling distanced because they were just so deluded and out-of-normal range. It was lovely. I even highlighted a couple of times- books don't often get me to do that. This book is a keeper, it going on my special list.

Not to my taste. Emma was a bit irritating. I understood that she wanted to be independent and not a charity case but she took this to an extreme and always assumed Kevin was patronising her- sometimes he was. Kevin got annoying with his obsession with what his Mother would think.
It all ended predictably.
