It is a very solid interface for the low price (especially with 2 inputs and even MIDI inputs), but if you want high-quality recordings, especially when recording instruments or anything with dynamic microphones that require a lot of gain, don't buy this. The preamp noise is extremely loud and you even hear a high pitched noise coming with it.
It could still be useful for recording a podcast or YouTube video, if you're just talking.
I would recommend only using large-diaphragm condenser microphones with it, simply because they don't need a lot of gain and you won't hear the noise as much.

A piece of junk with poor customer service

I used it alright for a couple of weeks, and then channel 1 simply died. No signal at all. I tried PreSonus customer service, only to run into a ~1 month battle over email, when 3 different people tried to give all sorts of arguments to make it look like the issue was my system. When they finally acknowledged the hardware issue, I had to sent it to repair (after just a few hours of use, really). Only rest I give 2 stars instead of 1 is that, while it was working, it was really good. Overall, cheap product, terrible customer service.

FIrst the box arrived half opened, then when I tried to set up an account that went ok till I got the product key then as soon as I downloaded the software it gives me an error message to input the product key again and again and its not working at all. I hate this download software business these days with new products it doesn't hurt to give you a CD with it all on. Now I have to wait to hear back before I can use this damn thing. Not impressed I was hoping to use it today not next week.

Update: Got a reply back from manufacturer and all they sent was instructions on how to input it all which I have already tried, its like saying just try it again. I mean how many times do I have to go over it. I haven't got the time for something that dosen't work so unfortuately I am having to return it.

Finally, this interface does exactly what I want - an inexpensive way to get guitar, microphone, and midi keyboard into my pc.
Recorded quality is good enough for me to get my ideas down before I forget them, which is all I need.
I say finally, because the installation wasn't easy.
Plugged the device in, and I got an error message saying it couldn't be installed on my pc.
I gave up trying to find the correct software drivers on the Presonus website, and resorted to Google.
6 hours later over two days, having found the right software, and working out myself how to set it up in Windows and Cubase, I thought I'd have a look at the "included" Studio One DAW.
No, you won't - another installation error message saying not compatible with my system.........
Oh well, not what I bought it for.
So, that's why the three stars. A good little unit, the midi functionality making it more useful than some of the more expensive boxes, but Presonus really shouldn't use the word "easy" when the incompatibility problems very nearly got it returned.

Hmm, well, it works... kind of... I have two computers and I got this to work on one of them... the other one didnt want to know... clearly a driver problem but annoyingly the driver is buried within a downloadable software suite/management thing which just complicated everything... however the computer it worked on I just installed it and it was happy. However, as with other 'cheap' interfaces I've tried I cant run my daw and another audio source such as youtube... whereas on my other audio card a NI Komplete 6 it does - same setup. On both computers I run presonus studio one 3 pro edition which is great so figured trying the presonus interface was a natural step... but will stick to my native instruments in future.

Excellent cost effective way to getting Artist/Pro version

This product is excellent - I've used similar type auto interfaces before, namely M-Audio products, however I wanted to move from Pro Tools and utilise the Artist version of Presonus Studio One.

As many reviews have noted, PreSonus have email marketing deals on allowing you to upgrade the Artist version to the Pro version at an overall excellent price. In my circumstance it turned out cheaper to buy this and upgrade to pro than just buying Pro version outright! Amazing.

As a pro tools user I've found the move to presonus easy, it's certainly similar to Pro Tools which helps and seems to work much faster on my setup.

Note, you need to buy the Artist VST plugin to work with 3rd Party VST's or upgrade to the Pro version.

So you want to record audio on your PC/Mac. Then you will need an audio interface. This Presonus has two channels which can take 1/4" plugs for guitar leads or XLR cables (microphones). It provides phantom power to those mics that need it. It connects to your PC/Mac via USB. With my Mac nothing else was required. It was recognised and became the default input and output for audio. In respect of output you have separate volume controls for headphones (1/4" jack) and stereo output to studio monitors if you have any to connect. Sound quality is great. It's a simple bit of gear that works well with excellent sound. It also comes with a massive software suite however I've not bothered with that as I have Logic Pro so cannot comment on it's pros and cons other than to say you get a basic sequencer and a lot of software instruments and effects so you could start recording music with that if you do not have any other programs like Logic or Cubase etc
