Possessed by a Dark Warrior (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series Book 9)
A powerful warrior and commander of the dark elf legions, Bleu is a loyal and devoted male, and one who has never failed in anything—except one thing. Love. When an elusive female dragon shifter surfaces in Hell again, giving him a mission to hurl himself into, he gladly returns to his hunt for her and the deadly blade she stole from his prince seven centuries ago, but as he closes in on his prey, fate reveals she is far more than his enemy.

Having escaped from the black market arena and her life as a slave, Taryn sets her sights back on the task she began seven hundred years ago when her brother stole a precious sword, but in the three centuries she’s been a captive, everything has changed. Corrupted by a craving for power, her brother has become dangerously obsessed with finding the blade and using it to claim the ultimate treasure—the position of King of Hell.

Faced with having to end her beloved twin to stop him from bringing all of Hell to its knees before him, will Taryn be strong enough to use the very blade he seeks against him? And when Bleu finally catches his elusive prey, will he listen to his head as it demands he complete his mission or his heart as it demands he claim his eternal mate?

Blue is a powerful warrior and commander of the dark elf legions and when an elusive female dragon resurfaces he gladly returns to his hunt for her and the deadly blade she stole but as he closes in, fate reveals she is far more than his enemy in this breathtaking paranormal romance. There was a dull moment in this story and as the intriguing events played out, I was pulled deeper and deeper into Bleu and Taryn’s story and they dug deeper into my heart as well, in others Bleu’s story was well worth the wait, now I have to wait for the next one but it will be hard to top this one, of course I’m sure Felicity Heaton’s up to the task.

2.0 out of 5 stars Review: Possessed by a Dark Warrior ~ Didn't work for me. Doesn't mean it won't for you. 26 April 2016
By Angela @ Angel's Guilty Pleasures - Published on Amazon.com

~ 2 Possessed Stars ~

Possessed by a Dark Warrior is book nine in the Eternal Mates series by Felicity Heaton.

I would recommend reading at least the first three books, Kissed by a Dark Prince, Claimed by a Demon King, & Tempted by a Rogue Prince if not the whole series in order; before this novel. Bleu, our hero, plays important parts in the previous novels. He captured my heart from the moment he appeared on the pages. His story has been a long time coming and I’ve been psyched for his novel, so it saddens me to say, but I am a bit let down and bummed with Possessed by a Dark Warrior…

Bleu has unknowingly been chasing after his mate for seven centuries. Bleu and Taryn spend a lot of time in this novel figuring out their emotions and also coming to some major revelations about their life; the past and future. All of this made the story slow and drag along for me. By the end I was skimming pages, board, and frustrated that I had read the whole book. Their romance was lacking that pizzazz that the earlier couples have in this series. I also missed the fast-paced action-packed adventure that I have come to love and enjoy in these books.

I expected more from Bleu’s true mate Taryn. I felt she was lacking in depth and smarts. I can emphasize with her drive to stop her brother and also wanting to see the good in him, but some of the things she did just baffled my mind.

* For one, she’s a dragon shifter, so she should know that her brother would smell her and find what she hide.

* Second, the ending battle she hesitates, until something major happens to give her the balls to finally do what needs doing (I was frustrated and yelling at her during this scene).

* Last, I got mad that the all powerful artifact everyone has been searching for Taryn just drops it on the ground, where anyone can pick it up, and disappear with it.

Unfortunately, Possessed by a Dark Warrior did not work for me. It does not mean it won’t for you. If the blurb intrigues you I urge you to give it a try. This one installment is’t going to put me off on continue the series. I love FHeaton, I love the Eternal Mates series, and I’m looking forward to the next novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars All that and a bag of chips 11 April 2016

Bleu’s story has been a long time in coming, and I’ve been psyching myself up for POSSESSED BY A DARK WARRIOR for what seems like ages which unfortunately caused the reality to not quite live up to the three years of self-imposed hype. The hero’s been unknowingly chasing after his mate for seven centuries, and that was definitely fitting as were the inescapable eating-his-own-words moments, but the romance needed more pizzazz in order to compete with some of this series’ earlier couples, and he abandoned his bachelor ways entirely too easily.

We’ve bumped into elves and dragons before in the ETERNAL MATES universe, so although there was some character specific world-building, the plot focused primarily on Bleu & Taryn finding each other, and Tenak’s upcoming war. Still, the book did take a few surprising turns, and there were some cutesy aspects that I especially enjoyed like the female lead’s reaction to “treasures” in the elf kingdom. Otherwise, no previously uncharted realms were explored other than no man’s land and the free zone which weren’t covered in much detail.

Many of the previous pairings played minor roles, I really liked how Felicity Heaton built on Vail & Bleu’s history, and the protagonist’s past with Sable—a key turning point IMO. My favourite EM alpha male did put up some resistance when it came to giving his heart away however, considering his long running anti-love stance, and incessant mockery of others taking the plunge, I found that his walls came down with barely a look. As a result, I felt as though readers missed out on many of the things that made Bleu so attractive.

Because of this, Taryn was able to step into the spotlight, perhaps a bit more than she should have. That’s not to say that she wasn’t deserving of the attention… I think that I’m a little peeved that this installment ended up being more about her. Surviving life as a slave was no small feat, and her toughest test was still to come in the form of her own flesh and blood. She handled both admirably, yet in doing so she short-changed Blue. I just felt that their relationship was skewed.

POSSESSED BY A DARK WARRIOR was all that, but minus the bag of chips.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book but Too Long Wait for Bleu`s Story 11 April 2016

Felicity Heaton, you are one great writer. I would have given this 5 stars except waiting so long for the story took away from the read and it needed a little more H/h time. Everyone has waited for Bleu and his mate but it was so long in coming that I felt like I needed to reread at least Vail`s story to really appreciate this one to the maximum.

The preview at the end of the book isn't about Dacian, which I am ready for, or even Tegan, which you hint at, but the angel, Rey, you mentioned in an earlier book and frankly I don't remember. I hope you will take pity on your readers and close character arcs faster so we can get the maximum pleasure. I am not digging for the previous angel story reference, but feel I have to reread Vail`s story today because it has been so long and I can't remember it. Vail is important in this storyline which readers will enjoy.

When I went to her web page I see 2 more stories from the series are slated for spring 2016 and the second book is Grave and Isla which she hints at through Isla`s reaction to Bleu`s comments in this book . I am looking forward to that read bought still want Dacian`s story since he helped Bleu so much in this book.

She is also starting a new series. Yeah, she is so creative, but does that mean Dacian will take even longer to be written? I hope not.

The other reviews share the story line and I have to say I love Taryn being so strong and dangerous because of her emotional damage from time in slavery. Bleu is just what she needs and I love how he has to fight his own darkness after being tortured by the villain and how he almost loses her to it. Just wait until you read it.......

Buy thus book, you will really enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eternal Mates book 9 10 April 2016
By Sarah (Feeling Fictional) - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Like a lot of fans of this series I've been desperately waiting for Bleu's story since he was introduced in Kissed by a Dark Prince so my expectations for this book were absolutely huge. It's been obvious for a long time now that Bleu is desperate to find his mate, he's jealously watched on while everyone around him has found their own happiness and it's left him feeling more alone than ever. While he's been unlucky in love he has remained focused on protecting Prince Loren and their realm from any threat and he's also spent centuries trying to find a powerful sword that was stolen from them by a dragon. It's fair to say that Bleu is obsessed with the sword, and also with the dragon who stole it, but it isn't until he runs into Taryn again that he finally realises why.

We met dragon Taryn a couple of books ago when she escaped from the slave market with several others, she had been held prisoner for over 300 years and that captivity has taken a toll on her emotionally and physically. Now that she is finally free she knows that she must finish the task she set herself 700 years ago. Her twin brother Terak has lost his mind to darkness, he is planning to take over the whole of hell and Prince Loren's sword is just the weapon he needs to succeed. When Taryn stole the sword from her brother she tried to return it to the elves but they attacked her believing she was the thief so now she feels she has no option but to take on her brother alone. He has turned into a monster and she feels it is her responsibility to stop him but with Terak about to take his war straight to the realm of the elves Taryn is probably going to need a little help to defeat him.

Poor Bleu has pined over several women throughout the series thinking himself in love with them, he was so desperate to find his mate that he has been looking in all the wrong places and it isn't until he starts to spend time with Taryn that he realises how shallow his previous attempts at relationships have always been. I really enjoyed seeing how shocked he was when he discovered Taryn was his fated one and I was happy that he was prepared to do anything to claim her but I have to admit I was a little frustrated by the fact that he'd known she was his mate all along. I felt angry on Taryn's behalf that he knew who she was to him 700 years ago but blocked his feelings and pretended he'd never found her rather than fight for her. I think I would have liked this story much more if he'd never got close enough to realise she was his mate before, it just didn't make sense to me that Bleu has spent so long searching for a love that he already found and I found myself almost blaming him for her 300 years in captivity because he should have been fighting in her corner all that time. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the romance but it didn't quite have the epic feel I was expecting because of his stubborn pigheadedness.

Taryn is a great character and I loved the way she was so determined to do the right thing as far as her brother was concerned. She was in a pretty impossible situation because the last thing she wanted was to hurt Terak but she knew that he was beyond saving and felt it was her responsibility to protect others from his wrath. I have a bit of a dragon obsession so I loved seeing Taryn in her dragon form and her character felt very real to me as her need to fly and be free was so easy to understand. Taryn and Bleu have great chemistry from the very beginning and there is no shortage of sexy times but I also enjoyed the meaningful conversations they shared and the way they were able to open up to each other in a way they couldn't with anyone else.

We also get to catch up with some of the previous characters and I particularly enjoyed the interactions with Bleu, Loren and Vail, they have a very complicated history which has made things tense between them but deep down there is a strong bond between them and they finally proved that to themselves here. There is a lot of forgiveness in this book and some bridges are being rebuilt which leaves our favourites in a stronger position going into the future. This is such a brilliant series and we had some definite hints about potential future couples to look forward to so I'm hoping that means we have many more books to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Possessed by A Dark Warrior ~ EndlessReading 20 May 2016

Firstly I would to give a HUGE thanks to both Heaton and her assistant Carmel, for kindly giving me this opportunity to read and review.
Once again another fantastic instalment to this series, although they can be read individually, they intermingle with one another and it's always nice to see previous characters playing their part on the storyline.

FINALLY we get Bleu's story, it feels like we've been waiting eternity for this Dark Warriors story... oh and boy is it a good un'

We got a slight glimpse at Taryn in Bitten by a Hellcat and it was obvious this was going to be one hell of a chase for both Taryn & Bleu.
Bleu has remained focused on protecting Prince Loren and their realm from any threat, he's also spent a long time tacking down a powerful sword that was stolen from his Princes kingdom, funnily enough by a dragon. It's fair to say that Bleu is obsessed with the sword, and with the dragon who stole it, but it isn't until he runs into Taryn again that he finally realises why.

Poor Bleu has lusted over several women throughout the Eternal Mates series thinking himself in love with them, he was so desperate to find his mate that he has been looking in all the wrong places and it isn't until he starts to spend time with Taryn that he realises why the others had fizzled into nothingness.

Taryn is a great character and I loved the way she was so determined to do the right thing as far as her brother was concerned. After escaping her captivity, she tries to right the past due to seven centuries ago when her brother stole Prince Loren’s powerful sword. She needs to stop her brother, who has been corrupted by power, and killing everyone in his path. He will stop at nothing to become the King of Hell.

But will Taryn be strong enough to kill her twin with the very blade he seeks to possess?
Will she be able to evade the elf who has hunted her for centuries?

The romance was very hot, just as I’ve come to expect from this author. And I really liked Bleu and Taryn as a couple. Both were so possessive over each other, and watching them lose control around each other was a lot of fun.

"Yesterday had been the end of their past, a time that would fade into memory, put to rest for eternity.
Today was the start of their forever."
