During this trip, she not only finds herself, but she finds a welcome distraction – Enter Deniz!
I’m so desperately trying not to spoil this one for you, but I guarantee that Jane’s unique style and wit will make anyone fall in love with these characters. They aren’t your run-of-the-mill flawless perfect robots, they are real, messy, and give you a sense that you are getting to know real people…flaws, and all!
What will Olive decide? Will she take a chance on the tall dark and damaged Deniz, or will she give it one more go with her long-term fella golden boy Luca?
Amongst the drama, are some lovely scenes of family and friendship, great descriptions of the beautiful Bodrum (FYI if COVID didn’t stop me, I’d be booking straight away!), and some amazing character developments that will have you just rooting for lovely Olive.
Definitely a summer must-read!
After a meltdown when her long-term boyfriend proposes to her, Olive flees to Turkey to visit Ginger. On the way she meets the handsome but hateful (to her, not to me) Deniz.
And this is where her story begins. No spoilers. You have to read it yourselves.
I didn't think the author could top Salep and Ginger but she did. Very successfully. The setting is marvellous. Deniz is marvellous and Gundogan weaves a beautifully crafted tale of romance in a sun-kissed location with a 'will they, won't they' theme that keeps the reader turning the pages. Did I mention that Deniz is marvellous?
There is humour, romance and erotica aplenty in this beautifully written book that us totally in keeping with the steamy desires of the characters.
I LOVED it.
The story jumps right into the action and we get to know Olive and what she wants from life after a vomitting fiasco with her boyfriend, Luca. I admit I see a bit of myself in Olive when she talks about wanting to travel and have adventures and meet new people. It's a dream everyone should have. Then we meet Deniz Yilmaz, an arrogantly HOT British GOD at the airport. Yilmaz is portrayed clearly in my mind and he is definitely my favourite character. I loved the chemistry not just between these two characters, but with the whole family. My interest was held from page one and I couldn't put this book down even if I wanted to.
One thing that did bother me is that from the beginning Olive insists that she and Luca are no longer together, even though a breakup didn't actually happen since she ran away before anything could be said. If I were in Olive's shoes though, I would definitely forget about Luca and run away with a man like Yalmiz, especially when we learn later on just how much of a jerk the perfect Luca really is... really... Everyone says so! He did come through at the end though so he's not all bad.
Pomegranates and Olive is definitely a book everyone should be reading. Then, maybe you should read Salep and Ginger too because both books are too good not to read. With a swoon-worthy male lead with an arrogant personality and a heart of gold, Pomegranates and Olive takes you on a wild adventure to a beautiful city in Turkey, one that this author has really made me want to visit one day. This is a must read that will keep you hooked from the very beginning.
I could not put the book down, in fact I read it in less than a day.
There was drama, romance, comedy and sizzling heat scattered throughout the entire book.
Everything you could want and more was there to keep you hooked and wanting more!
Not only do we have a return of the main characters from Salep and Ginger (which I’m so pleased about because of the natural follow on) but we also have an introduction to some new character.
This book centres around Olive and her love interest.
Olive is a well developed character. She’s sassy and funny like her cousin, Ginger. Yet she’s also warm and friendly. She’s a very lovable and down to earth character that I enjoyed reading about.
Her love interest is hot and very sexy. He has a wild side yet he’s ready to protect and love Olive no matter what.
The plot keeps you on your toes with twists and turns that do not disappoint.
Now all I need to do is find my own Turkish romance!
If you love a great holiday Rom com then this book is the one for you. I’d recommend you read Salep and Ginger first though to understand the history! Both brilliant. Both worth every single second of your time. Both leave a huge hole of disappointment when you finish because you know you want more!
I can’t wait for the next instalment!
Jane, you’re a brilliant writer….. thank you for bringing these books into my life!
