Product Description

When family man Mike Torino lands a project in Italy, home of naked art, Valentino, and taxi-crashing yoga pants, he brings along his wife, hoping to rekindle their marriage. But romance gets derailed by head colds, constant bickering, and assaults from ankle-breaking cobblestone streets. Their daughter develops a gelato addiction. Mike’s Italian partner has a coronary. And as for amore . . . Mattie tells Mike to handle things himself—and storms back to America.

Mike is trapped. Leaving Italy will blow a promotion; staying might cost him his wife and family.

While reeling from Mattie's frantic departure, a replacement liaison is assigned—a top-notch, beautiful young Italian woman who is instantly smitten with Mike and determined to reveal the passions of her homeland—whether he wants to see them or not! Normally immune, Mike is tempted—but is headstrong, voluptuous Julietta worth the risk?

“Funny, Sexy, Heartbreaking, Hilarious”
In Poggibonsi, Dan Alatorre tells a compelling and hilarious story while giving its serious and heartfelt themes fair treatment. Protagonist Mike Torino is a hard-working family man who is struggling in his marriage, and when temptation looms on a business trip in Italy, he can't help but indulge. His winding and sometimes bumbling misadventure leads him on a journey that ends only when he discovers what is truly important to him.
Funny, sexy, and at times heartbreaking, Poggibonsi is much more than a riotous romp. It's an exploration into what makes us human and drives us through life.
- Allison Maruska, The Fourth Descendant and Project Renovatio trilogy

“Outrageously funny”
Poggibonsi is disarmingly charming; a laugh-out-loud, bumbling romp through lust and love in central Italy. Alatorre captures the breathtaking romance of the novel’s namesake perfectly, peeling back each layer of story until all that remains is genuine, raw emotion. An outrageously funny, guilty pleasure of a read.
- J. A. Allen, Old Souls

5.0 out of 5 stars From Buongiorno to Arrivederci – a rollicking success! 21 April 2017
By Grady Harp - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Author and humorist Dan Alatorre became a first-time dad at the age of 47 - a daughter by the name of Savvy. His comedic debut book "Savvy Stories" tells humorous tales about a loving dad who sees the magic in children, and isn't a bumbling stooge about changing diapers like some TV sitcom. Dan was born in Ohio, and graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida before earning an MBA from Tampa College and served with honors in two Fortune 500 companies. Dan, Michele and Savvy live in the Tampa area. Beware! There is a problem with reading Dan Alatorre's books - they are addicting. Few writers today have that keen gift for finding the humor in challenging situations and Dan has a secure place at the top of the heap for comedic writing. He knows how people think, and better yet he knows how to appreciate their joyful outlook ...and wisdom. But alert! - Dan has other aspects to his writing talent, from the very tender book of insights and of course humor about a cardiac condition, the long QT syndrome in THE LONG CUTIE, to THE TERRIBLE TWOS (lessons learned from his daughter) to children's books and marketing books, to cookbooks, first in conjunction with others (35 MORE AMAZING RECIPES YOUR MOTHER WOULD BE PROUD OF, etc) and then his solo cookbook ALL AMERICAN FAVORITES. The binding element is his easy going lighthearted manner of writing while at the same time offering fine advice and some really delicious adventures in the kitchen.

But beware! Yet another genre Dan is exploring is present in this romance travel adventure that bears that indelible stamp of Alatorre ingenuity. He maintains his inimitable humor and everything is wrapped in this gifted writer’s accomplished prose.

The synopsis offered suffices to summarize the tale: ‘’When family man Mike Torino lands a project in Italy, home of naked art, Valentino, and taxi-crashing yoga pants, he brings along his wife, hoping to rekindle their marriage. Normally immune, Mike is tempted—but is headstrong, voluptuous Julietta worth the risk?’

Unexpected other aspects of a talented craftsman surface here – and they are solid enough to push Dan into even more serious novels. Grady Harp, April 17

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance and laughs on two continents 21 April 2017
By Janine - Published on Amazon.com

Poggibonsi: An Italian Misadventure follows Mike Torino as he juggles his work and marriage, with a business trip to Italy further complicating matters. It also intertwines the stories of his family, co-workers and various people that he meets in Italy to make for a compelling cast of characters; each memorable and easy to attach to as they develop and make their various journeys.

The story transported me to both the fast paced Atlanta and the slower paced Italy, with their vivid and realistic depictions. The lighthearted and comedic tone had me smiling and laughing throughout, turning through each page as I anticipated what would happen next. True to the tagline, it’s a sexy read as well as funny, with some sexual innuendo laced throughout. In the end, Poggibonsi is a story that invokes the full spectrum of emotions and carries some life lessons that anyone can use, not just people in Mike Torino’s situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars A laugh out loud, sexy, humorous book with heart! 21 April 2017
By DGKaye - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Disclaimer: I was gifted a copy of this book from the author. Alatorre has a gift for great storytelling. Poggibonsi is a richly woven story with humor, and hilarious sexual connotations with smoldering sex scenes done with class, but more than that!

The heart of the story centers around business and family man, Mike Torino, who is excited at the prospect to advance his career by taking a job opportunity jaunt to Poggibonsi, Italy. As Mike strives to be the perfect family man he’s deflated by his failure to please his standoffish wife and becomes vulnerable prey to a beautiful woman who brings new excitement to his humdrum manhood and ego.

Besides the shenanigans (plenty of them) going on in Italy, Mike’s confidante and personal assistant Sam, back at home, is trying to the run ship for him in his absence, encountering some crafty shenanigans herself while she tries to defend her boss’s position when things begin to go awry with the project, at the same time while trying to help him mend fences with his angry wife, who just happens to be Sam’s best friend.

Each character in the story holds a strong identity of his own and helps to round off this entertaining, fast paced, sexy. yet, family oriented story that will have you both laughing, and stifling back heartfelt tears with compassion right to the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart Sexy Fun 21 April 2017
By Jess - Published on Amazon.com

***I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review***
If you want a sexy laugh, this is perfect! I love first person stories when they are done right and this definitely was. The twists and turns are not the formulaic comedy that seem to be everywhere nowadays, it's smart and hot at times. Although there are a few sections where the perspective switches to 3rd person to follow a side character (which is kind of annoying), by the end of the book I just skipped those little sections and had fun with the main character's journey.
