Get rid of all those remotes! With the Plex skill for Alexa, all you need to access your music and media collections on Plex is the sound of your voice.
Long day? Now you can plop down on the couch and say “Alexa, ask Plex to play Time Travel radio” without ever lifting a finger. Find out what’s in the play queue by asking “What’s On Deck,” or even have Alexa “Suggest Something to Watch”. She knows the ins and outs of your media libraries, making it easier than ever for you to enjoy all your media, totally controlled by voice.
What kinds of things can you ask Alexa to help with? There are all sorts of activities she can control, and even some cheeky surprises if you request certain things. Just enable the skill, connect your account, and you’re ready to go. To find out what all you can do with the Plex Skill and see a list of supported Plex players and detailed voice commands, check out: https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/plex-apps/alexa-voice-control/
Plex users in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and India can use the skill to play all their favorite content; Plex Pass subscribers can enjoy some awesome new radio stations, like Library, Artist, and Time Travel.

This skill contains dynamic content, which is content that is updated real-time based on inputs from the developer. The maturity rating associated with this skill pertains only to the content of the skill at the time of the submission.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Good linkage and access but cant get the echo dot to play the plex library through my sonos speakers no matter how i try. Will only play plex through the dot speakers. if i specify artist and Sonos alexa switches to spotify..... Frustrating as sound quality on dot not good nov 18 - additional - even worse now Rarely recognises requests, picks one song and plays it over and over when specific artist requested, if you request album ( have to know album name) plays first soñg over and over. Plex and alexa do NOT play well together - shame as seems only way to play your own music - Spotify has limited artist tracks. Downgrade to 2 star update may 2019 months gone - issue still not fixed. latest update has meant now plex and alexa arent connecting at all - downgrade to 1 star
Sadly Alexa can see my server, she can see my tv but she never plays plex tv or movies. I ask alexa to play an ep, she repllies “ok” then nothing plays. I have to manually open plex on my tv, then start a show playing and only then can Alexa pause or resume. she can clearly see what’s on deck, she even offers to resume an epsiode where i left off...but never manages to do this. There’s no error message, no fail in the acivity log. alexa thinks shes playing my content to my tv. i dont know who to blame, Amazon or Plex but im massively disappointed. I’ve unistalled the skill, restarted, re-linked and spent hours being frustrated by this issue. i love plex, and use it daily but it’s completely useless on my brand new LG TV (alexa enabled) with my brand new echo dot.
Plex team must be alerted by my echo hundreds of times, but so far either they don't taking look or they abandoned plex for echo devices. I know that issue is not Plex server application, since it streams to every other device without problems. All I wanted is just to ask Plex to play some music. 😔
Plex is suggested as a way to play your own music instead of streaming if from the big names. It's not the easiest 'skill' but it works. You have to open your media server for remote access though. I don't have a static IP, so I'm not sure if this will still work once my service changes IP. There was no option to specify a name (such as NoIP hostnames) instead of IP.
You can play an album but good luck shuffling or asking Plex to play next song. Not a serious solution but right now the only way for me to play my own collection in an Alexa speaker eco-system - (which also btw is also a pain unless you only intend to play music from Amazon Prime/Unlimited).
This skill fails to recognise my Shield TV on my network even though it's connected. When it finally does after countless tries, the skill works decently. However every time I turn off my Shield TV, Alexa says she can't recognise any players on my network and my frustration continues again. Google Home however has no issues recognising Shield TV on my network and communicates with it without issues. As Shield TV is the only player I have I wasn't able to test this skill with other players therefore my rating is based on that experience.
....Plex is brilliant on all my other platforms and works throughout my home on all devices expect the echo.....She can see the server but keeps saying remote access not available when it clearly is to all my other devices....useless....
