If you’ve read other books in the series, you’ll probably remember Max and Natalie. At 35, Max is in the prime of is life by ordinary standards, but by NFL standards he is getting old. He is a divorced father of twin little girls who he absolutely adores. He has lived his whole life as a good guy, always trying to do the right thing. Natalie is 25, with a vibrant personality, a heart of gold and sadness that she sets aside when she goes to her job as a kindergarten teacher. They are drawn to one another despite the reluctance he has, certain that the bad factors of his life make him unsuitable for her.
They are both such likeable characters that you want them to be happy together. I didn’t dislike the ending, though I thought that it happened a little suddenly. It would have been nice to enjoy them together a bit more. I’m hoping we will see them again in the next book of the series, since Stephanie Queen does such a great time having characters in the world of a series make appearances in other books.
