I disliked the fact that Sony had the release date on a Thursday (and Amazon couldn't ship it until then - they may not have gotten stock until yesterday) guaranteeing that the release would be a complete mess (Australia Post has my console and in all likelyhood I will get it on Monday). I was looking forward to playing it this weekend but that won't happen now.
Upset with Sony and their lack of organisation (who also apparently was shipping their direct pre-orders before the release date). I doubt this review will get published.

The box wasn’t sealed, the language was in Chinese and I couldn’t understand anything. Also I can’t log in into the PlayStation network it’s “permanently suspended”. I payed $750 for a brand new console and I got a second hand console...what kind of service is that?

Great looking next gen console. I'm actually glad they went with a different, slight futuristic design, rather than a black box.
Comes with a stand that can be mounted on the base or side of the console depending on how you want to display it. So slight inconvenience when changing orientation.
One thing to note, this thing is massive!
Even if you're not interested in any current PS5 titles, the backwards compatibility and performance boost to PS4 games makes this a worthwhile upgrade.

Absolutely amazed how easy initial setup and transferring data and users from my PS4 Pro to PS5, nice job on the new console Sony. Just need to do a game test and so far I’m very impressed with this new console.
Thank you Amazon Au and Sony

Well first thing I must say is thanks to Amazon I got it on the 13th, as shown on the tracking site. Even though it didn't show updates, I got it midday and had the whole weekend to play around with it. So my weekend experience is given below.
The console is biggest in my collection, pretty close to a mini ITX PC case and it's super quiet. Looks sleek in a dark room when in vertical position. The console ONLY has around 600+ GB worth of usable space, which is laughable in today's standards. And Ps5 games will ONLY run from there. Also Ps5 is like Ps4 where it ONLY allows attaching ONE external HDD at a time. Which is a bummer for me since I've gone all digital with Ps4 and I needed to get a 5TB WD black to get most of my games in. You will need to set the always install Ps4 games on external drive or else you will run out of space if you have few CoD games in it. Now must say backwards compatible is pretty good and many 1st party games got patches so they run even better!
PSVR will not work out of the box, waiting for my "free" adapter from sony to arrive...so can't play any PSVR titles at the time of writing.
The console comes with a tech demo type game where you can test the new DS controller. I'm not a fan of the new controller or the new haptic feedback. Of course it's different but feels more like a chore. If you play COD games you WILL turn this off when you're playing MP game. Also the controller is heavier than usual and I got tired playing the new CoD:BLOPS - CW game due to too much rumble effects and pulling a rigid trigger(intended effect). One good thing is for Ps4 games, you can still use your Ps4 controller for them.
No Dolby Atmos for games and the new tempest audio engine feels like weird version of Dolby atmos for headsets on XsX and PC...I had to adjust the "ear height" to get a bit comfortable with it.
I'm not going to bother with "ray tracing" since I'm someone with a GTX 3080 card on PC...so err yeah nothing to talk about on what I've seen on Ps5's watch dogs:L or CoD:BLOPS - CW. Also it doesn't support 1440p, so can't test 120hz option with my PC monitor which supports up to 165hz while my 2 year old TV is only 4k60.
Overall it's an alright console but for me it has zero killer app right now. But on saying that I kinda like looking at it...strange I know but works on me somehow.

I had been looking forward to the release, expecting a much faster, higher resolution and typically linear “new console” experience.
Well I did get all that from the console, BUT and this is a HUGE but, the new Duel Sense controller is what I feel really makes this far, far above the incremental new console release I had expected. Now I could say in a almost Tolkien like novel just what the “feel” of the new controller is like but there is no way for me to convey the subtle and unique way this controller conveys feeling form what you see on screen to tangible, tactile response in hand. The included title of Astros playroom makes getting to experience this into a joy that made 3 hours just fly past with me wanting to keep going (but the real world need some of my time as well) when walking around in game you can tell what the floor is supposed to be made of the kind of difference between walking on timber or concrete floors, brushing into plants, getting hit or even landing after jumping all have a tangible result or feedback. I can’t wait to experience more and see/feel what this does for other games.
As for the general all over bits like build quality everything appears to be done very well, good feeling/quality plastics, set up was simple.
The only real bad is the small on console storage, older ps4 titles can be stored on a external drive (not included but not overly costly to add or 100% needed) Sony has stated user expansion of the memory will be available soon via a had slot in the console but this will of cause add to the price once they release a list of what drives will work for this, until then a little manual house keeping will keep space for the games I will actively play.
