After reading the blurb, it lead me to believe that Confessions of a Wedding Planner would be told from the alternating POV's of Veronica and Levi. I was halfway through when I resigned myself to the fact that that wasn't going to happen. This greatly disappointed me because it made the novel feel as though it was missing half the story. We never really learn the when and how Levi began having feelings for Veronica, we're just told that it happened at some point before we came alone for the journey.
Confessions of a Wedding Planner is probably one of the cleanest romance novels that I have read, like ever. There's no swearing, no sex scenes, and not even a make-out scene. I mean, there are a couple of kisses between Veronica and Levi, but nothing to get hot and bothered about, and there are a few times when there's nudity, but the only descriptor is 'naked,' so I don't think it would've made much of a difference if they were clothed. I am torn as to whether this is a positive or a negative for the novel... I mean, it's romance, not erotica, but without any real passionate scenes, we are only ever really told of Veronica's feelings rather than being shown them.
This book could really do with a heavy proofread as there are many typos and sentences that could use a restructure. I was ready to let it slide until I realised that this is the second edition of the book. This is really only an issue, I feel, if you are a bit OCD about that kind of stuff - which I am, sadly.
Quinn did a good job with the plotline, though drops the ball somewhat with the excitation. If you're not a fussy reader and like a little romance, then this is a good book for you

The lead lady Nica was so thoroughly unlikeable and frustrating, at 25 shes running her own successful business and yet still goes out and gets blind drunk and ends up in bed with a guy she cant remember going to bed with TWICE and yet she responsible and not a floozy? Even after the guy tells her he likes her she still doesnt believe him / doesnt know what to do and leaves it all up to the guy to sort out! None of the female characters seemed to have a backbone and be in control at any point, they were all weak kneed wishy washy I'll go along and kiss you/plan your wedding/go to dinner/go to Paris/go to bed even though I dont want to. Horrid story, I wish I hadnt read it. And it was totally predictable.

Poor Nica must be the loneliest person on the planet. Every time an attractive man touches her, she shivers, breaks out in goosebumps, goes weak at the knees and even outright moans. She spends most of her time not saying what she's thinking, running away from conversations and seems to be a terrible listener.
Despite the difficulties I had connecting with this lead role I did still enjoy the book and will most likely go on to read more by the same author.

Just didn't know which way the story was going to go, it was very unpredictable. I didn't want to put it down.

Wonderfully written with memorable characters and refreshingly romantic!

This is the second novel I've read by Michelle Jo Quinn and I can honestly say that I've not been left disappointed! Veronica, Levi and all the characters in COAWP are so vividly written, that it's hard not to fall in love with them (especially Levi, because well one word *swoon*!) I was very pleasantly surprised that though this was above all else a romance novel, it is wonderfully funny too, with a kind of rom-com vibe that, for me personally lifts it above other novels similar in it's genre.
I can't wait to read the second instalment in the Bliss Series.
Refreshingly romantic and a great read, I'd highly recommend this!

A story that put a huge smile on my face
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 February 2017Verified Purchase
I gave this an 8/10 or 4 stars. This was a freebie e-book via Bookbub.
It's been some time since I read a book that made me smile when I picked it up, this book fit that bill nicely. I was completely engrossed in the story and the lives of all the characters.
I loved the relationships between them all, how certain secrets were revealed about them all at different times as you kept reading. I so wanted Nica and Levi to get together you could tell that it was certainly a case of opposites attracting.
The story could have done with some better proof reading in my opinion, but this didn't detract away from my enjoyment of the story at all.
This can be read as a standalone book, but I've just bought the second in the series ~ The Bachelor's Proposal.

A lighthearted romance
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 October 2016Verified Purchase
I expected a light hearted Romance.
Something you pick up, and just to enjoy the banter between the lovers.
The only romance I could feel was between Jake and his fiancée.
Levi had the necessary attributes you expected Hot, Playboy reputation and did I say Hot.
I found very difficult to connect with Nica, and because everything is from her point of view.
Maybe that’s why I couldn’t feel any love connection with Levi.
The way Nica treated him, I don’t why he kept trying.
I think that’s why when they did finally get together the romance felt forced.
I didn’t fill the buzz, and when they got together at the end it felt rushed.
Chase was a fun character, and hopefully in another story as leading lady.

Confessions of a wedding planner
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 April 2017Verified Purchase
This was a fun light-hearted book. It was an easy read though I predicted the ending quite early on.
My only slight irritation was that the characters were strong, handsome or beautiful, not quite real life.
However, I enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to friends and family.
