Product Description

A full-length STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author R.S. Grey.

When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.

Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away...that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.

Gianluca.

After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.

But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.

After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

I am enamored with this story and don’t want to pick anything else up for a while because I want to live in this beautiful place just a little longer.  The sun, beaches, and restaurants of literary Italy have completely captivated me.
It took a few chapters to lay the foundation, however A Place in the Sun is a nice, solid romance that keeps you on your toes the entire time. It's one of those books where at some point you are irritated with both leading characters and want them to just go away, but not really.
Georgie comes off as a spoiled rich girl looking to bide her time until the "perfect" man comes along to marry her. She's a bit of a woe is me character and it took a few pages for me to actually like or sympathise with her.
Gianluca was an ass. A complete and utter ass from the second he appears in the story. That said, there is a dark cloud surrounding him and I couldn't wait to see what was hidden in his past to make him so anti-social. It ends up being heartbreaking and instantly gives him a pass.
I really loved this book. From the easy transition of busy British life to the calm serenity of the sea side Italian town. The characters were uniquely written and complexly intertwined with each other. The location was absolutely amazing. I could picture every scene of this book because the attention to detail was excellent. As sweet as gelato and as sultry as a fine wine, this book really had it all! Completely recommend....5 stars....it was amazing.

I've read all of R S Grey's books and have liked a few and loved a couple, but in writing A Place in the Sun, she has stepped up to a different league, now.
The writing standard was absolutely engaging. Our author has definitely matured - the style was beautiful, conversational, observant and communicative. Overall, the book was a charming, deep, tender and unrushed story of love and loss (and taking risks). Sounds dramatic, yes it was, but R S's trademark fun and giggles were there, too.
The imagery created by the setting was exquisitely detailed - from descriptions of the buildings, the landscape, the food, the people, the sea, the sunsets etc. surrounded by the rustic, rundown, but breathtakingly romantic Italian Riviera town of Vernazza.
The plot was cleverly simple, but well-thought-out. Whimsical and privileged, English beauty Georgie wanted to escape family preasure and perhaps fall in love on a frivolous holiday adventure. Vernazza local, Gianluca, was handsome, solitary, brooding, detached and a broken man. Georgie was smitten, but the feeling was not reciprocated. Soaking up the carefree and passion-filled atmosphere, Georgie comes alive and energised, relaxed and confident. Somehow Gianluca's spirit was awakened because of her allure. After some major challenges and confrontations, they agree to a casual relationship, but their love is a slow-burn.
The two main characters were just so relatable, appealing and well-developed as were the secondary characters. The dual POV was a plus allowing insight into both Georgie and Gianluca - their feelings, motives, backstories, hopes and pain.
Ok, enough blah blah, it was a fantastic read and I just loved it. I highly recommend it for fans of R S Grey or readers who enjoy a good read.
