Excellent text. I also have the seventh and eighth editions, but this, the sixth edition is my preferred edition. It is not gimmicky like the eight edition and actually has better figures and easier to read fonts. Also, although the later editions have a handful of more problems, they have skimped on some important and useful content!
I am fortunate enough to have access to the Instructor's Solution Manual which has been helpful because I solve all the problems at the end of each chapter and having the answers (and sometime the approach) helps. So if you can find the ISM definitely get it. Otherwise don't waste your money on the two "Student Solutions Manual & Study Guide ..." as they are totally worthless covering less than ten problems in each chapter, and not even the challenging ones.
As for the text, I strongly recommend it.

Product description
Review
"Prior to the adoption of this book (PHYSICS FOR SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS, 5th edition), the textbook was FUNDAMENTALS OF PHYSICS by Halliday and Resnick. Although Halliday and Resnick's book was the textbook chosen by the Physics Department, many students were observed by the faculty to be studying from Serway's book. The students had acquired old used versions of the Serway book, and they were actively studying out of this book rather than the prescribed textbook. Serway's book became our students' popular choice. The Physics Department, recognizing this, adopted a "give them what they want" attitude, and accordingly Serway's book was made the textbook for the calculus-based undergraduate physics course."
