Peter is a great writer with interesting stories. This is a well put together thriller with a message with a couple of small issues
A man wakes up on a beach with no memory of who he is and how he got there. He finds his way home which seems familiar and gradually starts to track down his identity but not his memories. Enter his neighbour to continue an affair. Together they track his activities and past.
But nothing is as it seems. Who is the strange person who monitors him from across the bay. A parallel story involving Karen whose father committed suicide is rebelling. Again nothing is as it seems. A murder victim is discovered with connections to our unknown person which involves the local police.
As the stories are revealed there is danger and this builds to a climax as all the stories come together and the truth is revealed.
There are a couple of inconsistencies and a couple of flat spots as the author tries to to develop several strands simultaneously without revealing too much. The obvious red herrings serve perversely to alert the reader. The ending is a little trite.
