Product Description

**Standalone novel**

Mirror, mirror … who’s the fairest of them all?

I still cringe when I hear that line. A fairy tale that had girls pretending they were the fairest, the most beautiful, and the most entitled. A fairy tale most couldn’t grow out of turned my haunted childhood memories into a living nightmare. Girls who grew up believing that pile of garbage became the meanest of all ‘mean girls.’

And those mean girls were right – it was a line meant for all the beautiful people in the world – and I knew the answer would never be me.

The women with long legs, flat stomachs, and perfect chests.

The type of women Kane Masters gravitated toward.

Well, that’s definitely not Willow Tate.

No. That will never be me.

Because I’m completely imperfect.

And … I hate myself.

I have no idea what Kane could possibly see in someone like me when he could have them.

Rather.predictable and went on too much about emotions. Knew the ending before I got there. Was glad when it finished.

This is a stand alone book from Ms Sloan, and something completely different from what we are used to.

And it is wonderful.

Willow Tate is an every-woman. Not a stick figure supermodel, but not an ogre.

But like all of us, what we see in the mirror is not what everyone else sees. Her self-image and self esteem have been kicked to the curb, and she is a shell of a woman.

Kane Masters is sex on legs, movie star, uber-famous - and way out of her league, right?

I LOVED the way Kane sees Willow. Gives the Willow in all of us that little boost.

There is so much emotion in Perfectly Imperfect, it flows off the page and into your heart and mind. I am not going to lie, there were plenty of times whilst I was reading that I thought "has Ms Sloan been reading my mind? There have been so many days I felt just like this!"

I don't want to give anything away, as Perfectly Imperfect needs to be read, absorbed by every reader for themselves.

This is so different from anything by Ms Sloan to date, and I loved it from beginning to end.

I laughed, I cried but most of all I cheered and smiled along with the characters.

Perfectly Imperfect, by Harper Sloan tells the story of Willow Tate. Told first person, mostly from Willows POV, though there are a few chapters at key points told by Kane Masters.

Fascinatingly, its two love stories told in the one book. Yes, there's a romance that builds between those two characters, but for that love to have even a chance of succeeding, there's someone else Willow needs to learn to love. Not her step-father, not her half-sister, no. The person Willow needs to learn to love is herself.

You see, Willow, at the start of this story, struggles with crippling self loathing, related in large part (but not completely) to her own body image issues, and when you're that far gone, no amount of reassurance from outside sources help terribly much, since you just assume they're just saying what you want to hear and not the truth.

Reminding me somewhat of Shakespeare's Hamlet, where he has a play within a play, Harper employs the plot device of having the major characters working on producing a movie, the storyline of which resonates with the overall story of the book. and themes reverberate off other themes resulting in a beautiful love story where strength and weakness meet and come together in a breathtaking fusion.

Ever since I first heard of this book I've been hanging out to read it, and though I'm admittedly a fan of Harper's other works, this one is something else entirely. Easily one of my favorite books of the year.

I just loved it, and can't recommend it strongly enough to anyone, whether they've struggled with their self worth as Willow did or not.

I liked this book, but I didn't LOVE it and I was suprised because I really thought I would.
It was well written as all of Harper's books are, and I truly admire her for tackling this problem that's - well lets face it, most of us have and still do experience most days. I'm a "larger" lady so I know what this can feel like but I feel to some extent the problem was never fully tackled in this book, a little glossed over by the romance side of the story which in my opinion was way over the top.
Willow Tate has just come out of an abusive marriage, constantly put down for her size by her husband and ridiculed by her step father and step sister, all the confidence has been knocked out of her. She is at her lowest point, when in her attorneys office on the day of finalizing her divorce, she has a chance encounter with a pair of gorgeous blue eye's and they belong to Kane Masters - top paid actor in Hollywood, sexy, rich good looking, and he has one aim in life - to make Willow his. He want's her like nothing else he has ever felt in his whole existence, even though he has had the most beautiful women on his arm, he can have his pick of the Hollywood elite but it's not them he wants. This book is how he sets out to woo and win Willow, a heart that is bruised, broken and a self esteem at rock bottom is not going to be an easy task. Will he succeed, you will have to venture inside this book to find out.
I struggled half way through this book, I thought the story would have worked so much better if the lead male character had not of been who is was but just a normal run of the mill guy dealing with everyday life, the problems that willow had were on constant replay and for me it got slightly repetitive.
