Product description

Product Description

Even after years of trauma therapy, Peyton still believes she’s broken. She has little desire to date or show off her natural beauty, content simply to hang out with her best friends and run her pie shop in New Orleans. But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up. While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them. With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own -- a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors she’s endured. But if they can find a way to trust each other, and themselves, they just might be able to heal, to save each other, to live perfectly broken together.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect blend of serious, romance, love, lust and drama 1 June 2014

Such a great story here. If you are a New Adult fan or a romance with a drama filled plot then grab this book NOW. I loved the main character Peyton. She was raised by her Grandma in New Orleans and took over her Grandma's recipes and started a very successful pie shop. Not cakes, cookies or fudge but pie. She had a sense for who liked what kind of pie and could guess them immediately. I liked that because it was one of the unique traits of the character. So her best friend Quinn and her Brother Griffin helped Peyton through some tough times.

Now for Quinn. there is a lot to like about her but I think most is her fierce loyalty to Peyton. She is a very protective friend. The same lightness is offered up for her and her unique talent. Quinn has a thing for underwear. Many references are made her to her along with her quite charming ways of naming panties. It is just this lightness that balances her and her OCD tendencies. Bret her boyfriend is a dream. His best friend Reed, well ..... my oh my he is fine. He is a player who falls for Peyton.

Now more on the Reed front. I liked him because he did recognize that he was living a life of leisure with a variety of ladies. OK now he gets into Peyton and he is taken by her. Is it enough to change his ways?

This has so many deep parts. The characters are all bonded together very tight. There is a secret reveal for Peyton that is huge and then one small. Reed and Griffin provide the drama. I swear worse than a girl on her period in a chocolate haze coma.
Lastly I saved my favorite character for last. Dr Lorraine. There really are no words to describe how freakin awesome this therapist is. She is smart, funny, and determined to help Peyton. She says the funniest things in a one liner type way. I would love to have a Dr. Lorraine series. There is one part where she tells Peyton to got shopping and well Peyton says no to retail therapy and the Doctor suggests daily masturbation. Peyton went shopping! LMAO just had to give you a taste of her brilliance.

The author does a great job with her style and the correct level of drama. I loved it can you tell?

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm so happy! 16 July 2015

I'm so glad I bought this book. I've read so many but I do believe this is the first for me by this author. It was everything I could hope for. It has some funny moments, the possessive moments and the serious ones as well. Both reed and Peyton has some issues and although reed is the player or proclaimed man whore he never gave anyone false hopes and he didn't do commitment. He actually never had women at his home or stayed over night but gene he meets Peyton. She is reluctant and resilient. She has faced some devastating things in her life but she had come out of them. She may not be whole but she is a fighter. But Reed is a patient man and will do what he needs to win her over. He has no other choice because he can't get her off his mind. So let the games begin.
I loved the main characters and even the secondary characters. The angst wasn't over the top and nor was the drama. It was the right amount. I loved it. And I'm so happy there were no cliffhangers. It had a very nice and wonderful epilogue that had my heart melting and my face plastered with a smile.

4.0 out of 5 stars This was a good book and a decent romance 2 December 2014

This was a good book and a decent romance. This book follows Peyton who is 26 who suffers PTSD due to a traumatic event a few years earlier where she was raped. Due to this, she wears baggy clothes and brushes off any male advances. Peyton lives with her best friend, Quinn, and also runs a pie shop in town which is pretty successful. It is here that Peyton meets Reed, a handsome successful businessman. Reed also happens to be best friends with Quinn’s boyfriend, Bret. Both of these characters have their own demons that they fight on a daily basis. Reed’s demons include an overbearing father who is also a womanizer and accused rapist.

Peyton and Reed’s need for one another might be the key to healing.

I enjoyed this book and gave it 4 stars. The book is told from third person omniscient so it is good to know the thoughts and feelings of both Peyton and Reed. This book is as much about love as it is about healing in the face of trauma.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweetly hot! 3 April 2014

Actually more of a 3.5. A lovely read about two very broken people. Peyton, whose life was shattered while in college after a traumatic event and Reed, who is haunted by his father's reputation. I didn't expect it to be so sweetly written. How they come together is slow moving and for once, especially when most romances have the H and h falling into bed in the first chapter, it made perfect sense. There were a few times when I wanted to scream at both characters because of the typical misunderstandings but I have to say, I liked Peyton and Reed. Reed was broken but funny, irreverent and so smitten with Peyton that you could see his fright at falling in love with anyone. Peyton was a little more frustrating to me. I also sort of wondered at her level of experience (and I won't say at what since I don't do spoilers). Just seemed incongruous given what we know about her. I absolutely loved Dr Lorraine (and brava to the author for inserting a character of color!!). Her uncharacteristic approach to therapy was refreshing. One of the things I liked most about the book is the setting - New Orleans. You can feel and see the honky tonk and southern nature of the city. You could see the sprawling magnolia trees. The author really captured the lazy New Orleans feel. If you are looking for lots of smut, this is not it but... what you do get is a sweet, sometimes hot, beautiful romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prescott Lane delivers AGAIN!! 4 May 2014

I read "First Position" last year by Prescott Lane and loved it. I was SO hoping this new author would be writing another book soon, so needless to say, I was ecstatic when "Perfectly Broken" came out.

This is a love story that takes place in the heart of New Orleans. When reading this book, there were many times I felt like I was standing in the middle of the French Quarter, taking in all the sights, sounds and smells. The author does an amazing job with description in this book!! You can definitely tell that New Orleans is her playground, her backyard.

You will love ALL the characters in this book, not just the main ones. Prescott Lane has this amazing ability to develop each character in her book, bringing each one to life with their own distinct, quirky personalities as she tells their stories.

I have fallen 100% in love with Prescott Lane's books!! I am recommending this book to all of my family and friends and will be anxiously waiting for her 3rd release. Many thanks to Prescott Lane for her fabulous storytelling!!
