Product Description

James Thompson is an Olympic swimmer with gold medals, world records, and million-dollar sponsorship deals…

But his fiancée Anna White is just an ordinary girl—or so she believes.

When James takes her home for a visit and encounters her childhood friends and sleazy, jealous ex-boyfriend, Grant, he sees for the first time just how far apart their worlds really are.

Anna’s so-called friends undermine and backstab, but James is up for the challenge…

James is determined to make Anna see that while she might have once been an ugly duckling, she is now a stunning swan, and the only woman for him.

As the London World Championships approach, media scrutiny of their relationship intensifies, and an intimate secret is uncovered...making their promise to each other nearly impossible to keep.

Caught up in a whirlwind of press coverage, and championship competition…

James and Anna find the stress almost overwhelming, and they struggle to maintain focus on their goals. But when victory finally appears certain, an old menace resurfaces and threatens to violate all James and Anna hold dear.

Is it possible to have a perfect life?

A perfect love?

Or is perfection just an illusion…

I won a KINDLE copy of this book in a giveaway from the author who had been a participant in the SASS Anniversary Hop on FaceBook author and the following is my honest opinion.

Life for Anna White lfe hasn’t always been a happy one especially as she was growing up and it came to having a relationship with the opposite sex. For doing this time she considered herself to be very ordinary young girl; or in other terms, an ugly duckling. However, now she’s blossomed into a beautiful swan, a stunning beauty of a woman; but she’s unwilling to realize it.

For James Thompson transforming himself from an ordinary swimmer, like you or me, into an Olympic swimmer with gold medals, world records, and million-dollar sponsorship deals, hasn’t come easy with the hard work and training he had to endure to reach the level of perfection he has achieved.

Their relationship had to be developing into something significant, otherwise why would James accompanied Anna back on a trip to her hometown, the reason for which is not clearly given.

Her arrival back home is met with a lot of backstabbing by her old friends, who are now jealous of the way she looks, and envious of the kind of guy she’s caught the attention of. If you’ve ever been jealous of an old girlfriend with how things have shaped up in their lives as compared to your own, then you’ll understand what’s happening here with Anna. While this is happening with Anna, James has to deal with her sordid and envious ex-boyfriend, Grant. It is here that James begins to realize that their relationship is not as close as he had believed, but are actually farther apart.

Perfection is just an illusion captured perfectly how people's lives behind closed doors are very different to what they display, James and Ana's love is no exception. The roller coaster ride they experience is something most people can relate to, and the way they over come their issues only brings hope to people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong storyline 25 June 2016

This book had such a strong storyline and equally strong characters that I couldn't help but love it from the start. Now in saying strong characters, even though Anna seems like a flaky person, she certainly is strong in how she handles everything that's thrown at her and James.
4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this story 26 June 2016

Sometimes you don't know what you really want until you have it, and when you can compare it to what you really don't want then it becomes a lot clearer. I enjoyed this story. I felt for the characters and thought they dealt with their situations as only they could. I was intrigued, and I could feel the tension and the highs. I like men who aren't afraid to express their emotions, and who go for what they want in an honourable way. Then there's the men who make your skin crawl. And you can't wait for the two to collide. Good stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars BECOMING A BEAUTIFUL SWAN COMES WITH A PRICE 29 November 2016
By Robin Leigh Morgan - Published on Amazon.com

While this is happening with Anna, James has to deal with her sordid and envious ex-boyfriend, Grant. It is here that James begins to realize that their relationship is not as close as he had believed, but are actually farther apart.

If the intrusion of Anna’s so-called friends hasn’t been enough to add turmoil in her relationship with James, the ever watchful eye and scrutiny on their relationship by the media due to his participation in the upcoming London World Championships definitely will. And will a dark intimate discovered secret by the media threaten to destroy what these two cherish.

These two lovers had represented perfection which each desired in each other’s lives, but with all this going on, the question that rears its head is whether their relationship will be able to survive and endure. Or is what they had in reality had been a dream or an illusion.

For having given her readers a story which is fraught with a roller coaster of different emotions, I’m giving Ms. Barber 5 STARS.
