5.0 out of 5 stars he has no clue what would her perfect gift to be 30 November 2015
By The Twisted Book Curmudgeon - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Blake Snowden and Lara Hollywell have worked together for several years, each having secret desires for the other but keeping them a secret. Finally deciding to take a chance, Blake rigs the Secret Santa exchange this year so that he has Lara’s name and she has his. Now that he has her name, he has no clue what would her perfect gift to be.
Lara has never cared for the company's’ Secret Santa exchange and is often referred to as the Bah Humbug of the company. She can’t believe her luck in that over the three hundred people in the company she gets Blake’s name, the VP. Sure she has had her fantasies about what she would love to give him but she is just not ready to move forward. Losing her fiancé destroyed her, she can’t move past that loss even seven years later.
As short as this book was, the author did a great job in having a range of emotions. From the one scene where Blake takes her to the fair, there are laughs as a game is played, tears when on the big wheel, to smiles when they were fighting over the candy floss. Then there was the ah how sweet moments when Blake would offer Lara his scarf or coat because she was never dressed for the cold weather and even when he cleared the snow from her car. You could feel the connection the characters had and I’m really hoping that we will get a full length novel as they have so much more of a story to be told. There was one part of the story that I felt was a little choppy when they were at the ice skating rink with the nieces. It could have been that I was reading an advanced reader copy but it didn’t flow smoothly. Even with the time they were at the park and skating rink, the connection and fun the four of them were having had me feeling like I was there watching it all, I can see that snowball missing Lara to hit the tree she was standing under and the snow falling down to cover her. I was laughing right along with Blake.
This novella had a lot to the story, with great supporting characters. I will be reading more from this author and again, I am hoping that we will have more of Blake and Lara’s story.

I really enjoyed this novella. I’m the scrooge type and this book actually got me into the Christmas spirit. It was very well written and I loved all the characters. I loved Lara and Blake. I kept finding myself wanting more with this story. A good story is always too short.
I would recommend this book to others!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a short and very sweet Christmas Novella 10 November 2015
By Brandi Pearson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
What a short and very sweet Christmas Novella. I love reading E.J.’s books and it never ceases to amaze me how she writes with such realism. Her stories literally come to life in my mind and I swear they could be my next door neighbors. I couldn’t put the book down once I started and it’s one that has touched my heart. My heart broke for Lara and reading how and why her heart was broken. I understood that feeling all too well and maybe that’s why this book means so much to me. It was very hard to not tear up when Lara told Blake what happened in her life. But, at the same time, she needed to let go and move on. Blake is the perfect guy for that. He’s not overly bearing at all. Yes, he does want to go all cave man on Lara, but at the same time he also knows that’s not what Lara needs. I really loved Blake and knowing he didn’t push Lara and was just trying to spend time with her. It was very sweet and charming. Don’t get me wrong, this book is very sweet but it’s not overly done with sappiness. It’s just right and I know I could read this novella over and over. I highly recommend reading this and E.J.’s other books as well. I promise you will fall in love with all her characters!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful read! 7 November 2015
By JreaderLee - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Blake Snowden and Lara Hollywell have worked together for several years. Each having secret desires for the other but never acting on them. Blake finally takes a chance and rigs the company's Secret Santa exchange so they get each others names. This creates a whole new problem... What gift to give Lara.
Lara has been labeled the Scrooge (bah humbug) of the office. Over 300 employees and she gets Blake. As attracted as she is to Blake she's not ready to act upon it and she has no clue what to give him. Fantasies are one thing but after losing her fiance seven years ago she's still unable to move on.
This book was an incredibly good read even as short as it was. The range of emotions invoked by the author amazed me. Blake and Lara go from laughing to crying to fighting over candy floss all in one trip to the fair. These characters have an impenetrable connection and I hope that the author explores these characters further in a full length novel.
This novella had a lot to the story, with great supporting characters. I'm really hoping the author expands on Blake and Lara's story as I can feel so much of their story needs to be told.
