Sam is tired of Gabriel’s attitude and reluctantly chooses a guarding assignment and even though they are on separate cases they still cross paths at every turn and soon discover that the connection between them is far more powerful than any could have imagined in thrilling urban fantasy.
Thrilling suspense and action keeps readers on the edge of their seat in this fast paced and smooth flowing plot. Keri Arthur paints a vivid world with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated action and suspense ensure that the reader wants to know every last detail. Sam and Gabriel are vibrant characters that grab the reader’s attention and draw them deeper into the series.
Sam and Gabriel have been fighting their attraction since they met, mostly because of Gabriel’s issues turning him into a jerk, but destiny has a way of getting what it wants. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as they try to ignore their growing desires and fight to stop the coming war. But most of the reader’s focus of course is on the story and not really the romance, Sam is slowly remembering the past and putting the pieces together and she realizes that it is much bigger than they all realized which in turn has Gabriel realizing a few truths as well.
Spine tingling anticipation builds throughout the story as surprising secrets are revealed and danger escalates adding lots of excitement to the story. I was completely engrossed in the story from the very beginning and I have really enjoyed the series but I have to say that while I loved Gabriel and Sam’s personal happy ending, I am hoping that there are to be future books to answer a few questions especially concerning Joshua and the war that is coming and the rest of the Federation. I also want to recommend that the series be read in sequence to get the full understanding and enjoyment out of Sam’s story.

Great reading Keri ....loves your booksReviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 August 2009
I find that when some Author changed characters, I have a hard time changing but Keri Arthur changes is still fascinating reading what ever the character. The slow romance between Sam Ryan and Gabriel Stern, Sam's memory lost and discovery of her undiscovered powers. Gabriel dedication to the job and his denial to his connection to Sam makes good reading. It would be interesting to see if Gabriel and Sam ever get together and how powerful they can be together, if only Gabriel could let go of his fears. The lack of romance do not take away the power of the story it only enhance it.....which makes it a great story.
Loves all her books so far.....

Unfinished trilogyReviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 October 2018
Nice enough book and characters, but really really annoyed that this is an unfinished trilogy. I often buy older Trilogies as it’s then normally guaranteed that they are finished. With this book written in 2010 I thought I was safe, but as I got closer and closer to the end it became evident that this would not be finished... Far from it! After three books, the main characters hadn’t even had more than a kiss…

Loved the entire book but disappointed it did not completely end the story
wow!Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 August 2013
What a great book! But surely the way this book ends there must be another? How do Sam and Gabriel fare? Do they find a way to stop Sethanon? There are lots of things that could be followed up in another Spook Squad book!!
